Hello everyone, I am new here. I am very excited about UWM and the upcoming season. I wanna start off my membership by asking all you over the years, who has been the most highly touted baller to come to UWM? I know that players that come here aren't all that touted but I am just curious about it.

my memories of Von McDade and Shannon Smith are a little fuzzy now, but i think you'd have to throw them in the mix.

There was a tremendous amount of excitement the day Pat McCabe signed his LOI!!!
I think the most HYPED recruit really was Childress, even though he opted out.

Clay Tucker turned out the best. Passley was the most hyped under the Bruce Pearl era. Childress was only the most hyped on this board.
But the most Hyped player ever at UWM was Shannon Smith. The fact that he transfered from marquette to UWM was huge. He turned out to be one of the 5 best players in UWM history. 1. Clay Tucker 2. Craig Greene 3. Shannon Smith 4. Ed McCants 5. Dylan Page

I cant see how you could say anyone before the BP era was the most hyped, hardly anyone even cared about UWM basketball back then, much less who there recruits were, look at how far we've come now, messageboards and websites and people following stats of any recruit that even mentions uwm might be a possibility of the college they pick.

he could pass clay as far as ability and basketball skills, but as far as what Clay (along with Bruce) brought to this program, i dont think anyone could top that.

Clay was one of the turners...he helped this program turn around, and started what it stands for now.

Don't forget that Clay also may have been the beginning of the drunken sightings portion of our board. Back in the days he played, O'Danny's adopted the name of "O'Tuckers" as he was always there, drew a crowd, and was sometimes behind the bar. Fun stuff, especially when Bruce would refer to that name on the radio show. Good Times!
