How about an MVC/HL/Colonial challenge involving the top teams from each league. Use a random draw to see who plays who.

It does seem to me that there might be some interest from TV. Keep in mind how many sports channels are out there right now. I agree that games between the top teams might be all that draw some interest but it's certainly feasible. I don't think the MVC would be interested though. It's not in their interest. Right now many commentators say they are a MAJOR BB conference. The last thing they'd want to do is "challenge" a Mid-Major conference. Couldn't have said it better myself!!! The Fox Sports channels suffer for broadcasting content in the winter, aside from NBA basketball (and that's not exactly a big winner anymore, based on the ratings). I always thought that if I ran a sports network, I would jump all over the Mid Major conferences and market it as an alternative to the same 6 teams on ESPN every night. Mid Major Monday on Fox. (Like they have anything else to show.) Wednesday Night Baasketball. Friday Night Hoops. They could really create a brand for themselves, and beat out ESPN at the same time. EXCELLENT idea. It makes perfect sense for Fox

In general I would agree with you Fran, but those guys are pretty far out on the floor. I remember the 1959 playoff between the Dodgers. Aaron hit a hr that should have ended the game but the guy on base thought the game was over and celebrated leaving the base path. The umps called Aaron out for passing the runner the Dodgers won the pennant.
The rules are there no matter how much time is left in the game. Take what happened at the end and throw in those other calls (and non calls) and you have a pretty poorly reffed game.

I agree with Nighthawk. They were on the court and so was a coach. Whether or not they knew there was time left is immaterial. They were on the court. They impeded play. A technical should have been called. The distance looked to be at least 10 feet to me.
I do agree with you that more horrible calls went your way than went ours. Quite a few more. And yes refs in general favor the home team but some of the calls on us were simply wretched.
I wonder if these are the same refs who were reprimanded by the HL for bias against the Panthers when we lost at the Nutter in Rob's first year here.

He'd have to make some noise in the NCAA before that would happen.

There is also this. It was part of Jeff Potrykus' column today. It was the final item in the column.
Panthers on the prowl: National analysts probably forgot the location of UW-Milwaukee when Bruce Pearl left for Tennessee after leading the Panthers to the Sweet 16 in 2005.
They may not discover UWM this season, but the work coach Rob Jeter has done since dismissing two key starters for conduct detrimental to the team has been remarkable.
Jeter dismissed senior guard Avery Smith, the team's leading scorer last season, in November. He did the same to senior forward Torre Johnson, who was leading the team in scoring and rebounding after 10 games, in December.
UWM was 3-7 at the time of Johnson's dismissal. The new-look Panthers (12-8, 7-3 Horizon League) has won nine of 11 games. They should be a factor in the race for both the regular-season and tournament titles.
Who saw that coming earlier this season?
No one, which is just another reason we love college basketball.

How can you blame the guy for not knowing about the TWS broadcasts when they never advertise during home games on the jumbotron? A simple video ad such as "Hey Fans, catch your Milwaukee Panthers on Time Warner Sports channel 32 on Thursday, January 31st at 6pm against Detroit!" I don't recall them mentioning the Cleveland State game even once during the YSU game. They should have been putting it up on the Jumbotron and encouraging people to come at every opportunity. And they should have been pushing the Butler game during the CSU game.

"I mean, it's great that they're coming to game, but they're not really supporting the team. "
ANYONE who comes to a game is supporting the team with their dollars, their time and their applause whether they know the roster, away dates or school song or not.

Too bad for Butler that the selection doesn't meet at Hinkle with HL refs calling the shots

He also said this gentleman had his father with him, and he couldn't believe the amount of "taunting" and screaming coming from the father and son. WHAT? People actually caring enough about Panther basketball to scream and yell and even taunt? Why how can that be? This could develop into a major scandal!!

1) Flowers missed too much and didn't want to meet conditions to stay with the team so he quit. 2) KJ insisted on starting even though he couldn't defend against a two year old and wasn't impressive on offense either. 3) Roman was homesick. 4) Torre was kicked after being charged with assault for hitting a women who then needed 10 stitches. 5) Avo was kicked after walking out on a scrimmage (and after numerous other incidents)

I had something out of a horror story happen to me last night. Myself and four friends were going to go to the game but we had to wait for a friend to get off of work at seven. I agreed to drive, we piled in my ride got to downtown around 7:15. Drove around until 8:15 looking for a parking spot before coming home and watching the last half on the horizon league network. This is crap that we have to compete with the bucks, an autoshow, the lion king and numerous other gatherings on any given night. The parking situation was atrocious. I feel bad now that I read some dude skipped out on a wedding and took a shady parking spot to catch the last four minutes, but at the time I was too pissed off to pay 20 dollars for bucks VIP parking, (which I found at 8:00). I know the university does provide shuttels and other things but these are not solutions. Believe it or not its easier to get my friends down to a soccer game because it is on campus than to get them to deal with going to the cell. We also looked for a bit before getting a space. Next time you might want to try Old World Third St. north of the Cell. There were spaces available there. A 10 minute walk to the Cell but it's free parking

There is NO evidence that the students would turn out in the type of numbers that would justify building it on campus vs somewhere else. If anything all available evidence indicates that putting it on campus would not be worth the traffic hassles, lack of amenities etc.
Students weren't coming when the team played at the Klotsche in the past. How many showed up for Midnight Madness despite very heavy promotion, prizes and the whole nine yards?
The women's team plays on campus and they don't come for that either. Yes men's bb is more popular but you'd think more than a dozen students would show up for the women's games.
Two years ago when the Women hosted the HL tourney and were in the championship game ON CAMPUS at 4:00 in the afternoon less than 15 students showed up to see their team gain an NCAA bid.
