As much as I’m pissed at how this game was played/coached. I’m very happy we are in a spot where I am disappointed in back to back 20 win seasons and being one win away from the dance. Bart, thank you for making us relevant again, what a hire by AB(credit where credit is due). Love this teams hustle/heart, get Gruber to stroke some NIL checks and keep this team together and we are punching our ticket next year. Not unless the AD once again dampens this programs momentum. Seems like an all too familiar scenario. Oh relax dude AB has done a good job repairing the damage done by her predecessors I don’t love everything she does but this program was in shambles before her.

We guard Gohlke incorrectly. Basically just need to do what Eric Bledsoe used to do to James Harden, playing entirely on his left side. Not shaded to the left, literally completely on his left side while straight up giving him a wide open driving lane with his right hand. Gohlke will not take it and will not step back right. Any other option is silly and just poor scouting. Made one shot going right the last two nights. Literally can’t dribble. Not sure how that’s missed or not scouted out. Oakland gonna be boat raced in the tourney they are not a good team just marginally the best team is a tightly packed low major league. Doubt Townsend gets that whistle next week.

BJ set an HL record tonight with the most points EVER scored by a player in the HL tournament and you think he should've been sitting. There's an old saying, "You go with the one that brought you here." He got us to the finals. Also we didn't lose on one turnover. There were other plays that didn't go right either.

I'm frustrated about everything. I'm frustrated how got in the bonus and they stop calling bump & bang fouls in the paint. Upset about a bush league techniical in a championship game. Upset how Gollhke barely came out but our star was out for key minut how Learic Davis didnt get any run. But most of all, upset how we didnt get more fan, student and alumni support for this game. The same 25-30 cant keep supporting the program by itself. I'll leave it at that. But good season Panthers players and coaches! Proud of you all. I will scream this from a mountain. Until we move this game from a Tuesday to a Friday/Saturday, its hard for the non-diehard to travel. shoot even the die hard with kids makes that trip pretty difficult.

If Gohlke was on our team (and frankly, it’s a kind of a failure on our part that he isn’t), we would love him. Just like we love Freeman on the current team and Matt Tiby in the past. He’s a 36 percent shooter from 3. Not exactly someone worth worrying about missing. He can’t dribble pass or defend and if you scout him correctly he can’t make shots either. He made one tough shot last night but our strategy was wrong last night and I think Bart touched on it last night. He treated their shooters with too much respect and Townsend made us pay.

I think you will be very surprised by how Oakland competes next week. Townsend will very likely be the most talented front court player in the game and can hold his own vs anyone in the country. They have 2 elite shooters who don’t just shoot well but shoot a ton and can get hot at any point and flip the game in 3-4 minutes. The zone can be tough to play against especially if you haven’t gone against it before. Lastly, Kampe is a good coach and will hold his own in any game.

Townsend ain’t gonna get that whistle in the tourney that the HL refs give him. Their guards can’t handle the ball well. If we put the hard press on earlier we could have maybe stole the game. I think you’ll be surprised.

I wouldn't say that it's very likely Townsend is the best front court player in the first round. He may well be, or he may not. Matchups are a big part of what makes the tournament special.
Guard play is often regarded as one of the most important factors in tourney runs. The lack of a true point guard for Oakland may be tough to overcome, but that's again dependent on the matchup.
And the three point shot can be an equalizer as well as a difference maker in the tournament. Oakland's ability to hit the three could indeed have a huge impact on their ability to upset their opponent, but it could also help contribute to them being blown out if they're not hitting.
I'll be pulling for Oakland to wreak havoc nonetheless.

Fair enough. I’d like to think I have a closer relationship with Bart and his staff than most though. I truly believe he wants to build us up to be a perennial HL winner/contender for years to come. He has had a great start, and he will keep it going. I’m not arguing your connections to the staff but any coach who says “they have no intention on leaving” or “I’m really happy here” is full of sh*t. Lavall Jordan had kids in town for unofficial visits the day before he accepted the Butler job. Others have had their staffs out on the road recruiting while negotiating with other schools. Bart’s here until he can get a better offer. Period. Had Charlotte’s job reopened this year, I have no doubt he’d be trying to get it. Plus, they’re never going to tell fans especially, “if the following schools contact me, I’m leaving.” Hell, even the staff is left in flux on if they’re going to be offered a position or if they’re being left behind. It’s an unfortunate part of the business but that’s the bed they’ve made for themselves.

Tough loss, have to recruit our roster back now we return the best lineup in the league. BJ giveth BJ taketh. Most frustrating player of my 25 years of panther fandom. I know he was never gonna do it but shoulda rolled with the lineup without bj. Who has the plus minus from tonight. Pratt and KP were really good tonight sitting Kp for BJ late was a choice. The turnover down two by bj was backbreaking and really no answer for horizon league harden Townsend. Dude gets the best whistle in the league. No chance Bart leaves not sure where he would go that’s a better job. BJ could leave but does he really want to compete for minutes at a power 5. Should have heavy recruiting at the state tournament for the Thomas more kids this week. Gotta keep building I said all year it would come down to 3 games in March problem was we set ourselves up to need 4. Good season but has to leave a sour taste was a winnable game. 64 60 leading and we needed a stop and score and just didnt have it. Man, and Elijah Jamison played great in both games, but he had 2 or 3 looks from three that would've been HUGE if they went down.

Elijah really came to life in the HL tournament. I thought his defense on Gohlke was what kept us in the game. Not sure Gohlke had more than that 1 corner stepback with EJ guarding him.
It would be nice to find a bigger PG so EJ can play off the ball and get back to his scoring type game.

You have to wonder along with that first three late with the shooter's touch that went in from BJ; had he hit that second one that would've put so much pressure on Oakland on the other end; hate to say what if....though that crowd would've went nuts!
I was at the Gasthaus last night and that 3 min stretch was hard to watch as it seemed like the basket became 2 inches smaller though prior to I noticed that BJ was getting more attention the moment he came back. Oakland was daring others to beat them and it nearly cost them--Fields making perimeter shots as well as Wilson who nearly looked like FF at one point; I really I thought after that and one he had that eye of the tiger look that he was going to really take over. It was really frustrating; I want to see BJ run it back for one more year which would really help in the portal; we are one Gohlke and Wilson type player away from getting to the Big Dance...

We give up 80 a game we need guys who will buy in defensively. Could not stop Townsend all night. 1 cooked us the night before.
