This has been in the works for a few days now but didn’t want to leak the information ahead of time. As everything is falling apart on the team Lundy looked for the scapegoat and decided to have it be MB. This team is directionless without any players willing to lead anymore and speak up and coaches who would rather play the blame game.

Well this is great.
Did he get booted for as reason? Or is this being used like a threat to other players on the team ("you could be next!")? I assume the former. If so, what did Markeith do wrong?
This doesn't sound right.

This team is directionless without any players willing to lead anymore and speak up and coaches who would rather play the blame game. I have no idea how what he did would warrant anything more than a suspension. It really must have gotten that ugly somehow behind the scenes. Either way, I don't support kicking a guy out of the program for anything other than something extreme. Obviously, we need more context, but this looks bad on Lundy and his staff. Was this a powertrip for Lundy to prove he can do it with all his own guys now since MB was the last Baldwin kid? Who knows. Lundy is not nearly the type of leader or coach we all thought he was. His innate ability to sabotage his own program cannot be underestimated, and never will be from now on. Unbelievable.

This is disappointing. I was impressed with Browning's athleticism when he first burst onto the scene for PBS. I thought his injury that year was a big blow to that team's success, even with the PBJ distraction.
I highly doubt this move is basketball related. Lundy often complimented Browning's defense. The playing time Browning received speaks for itself.
We are better off for this type of thing to happen in a down year rather than an up one.

Obviously, if Browning was kicked off the team for anything less than a justified reason, shame on Lundy. You can bench him for games at a time, but unless he broke rules so egregiously that it warrants him being kicked off the team (and off scholarship next year), he shouldn’t have done that.
On the court, based on how Markeith has played this year, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is addition by subtraction. He was a key player last year, but his ball handling is awful, his shot selection has been bad (how many three pointers did he take from Racine last game?), and his defense and rebounding (which are indicators of effort) have fallen off. The team seems to play better when guys like Learic Davis and Erik Pratt are on the court and worse when Markeith was on the court.
As for Lundy, jury’s still out. We’re probably stuck with him for another 2.5 years, for better or worse. Hopefully Lundy is learning from all this.

Well, I think we now can figure out who's the "entitled fat cat" Lundy was taking about.

Holy smokes! Where did the time go? We're three days removed from the 16-year anniversary of Torre Johnson's arrest! The coaches and players salvaged that season after a 3-9 start to finish 14-16. Let's see if these guys can do the same!

UW-Milwaukee guard Markeith Browning II is dismissed from team Todd Rosiak Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Junior guard Markeith Browning II has been dismissed from UWM's men's basketball team. A turbulent season for the UW-Milwaukee Panthers got quite a bit bumpier Monday.
Markeith Browning II, a junior guard expected to be one of the Panthers' top players coming into the season, has been dismissed from the program.
"Announcements like this are never easy," coach Bart Lundy said in a statement released by UWM. "It was an internal decision done with the best interests of the program in mind. We certainly wish Markeith the best moving forward. The entire program hopes for nothing but success in his future and will do what we can to help him on that path."
The 6-foot-4 Browning, a native of Ypsilanti, Michigan, was perhaps the Panthers' best all-around athlete and someone who could be a difference-maker on the defensive end of the court.
But offensively Browning had struggled – not unlike the rest of the 4-7 Panthers – as he was averaging only 8.5 points on 40.7% shooting to go with 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
In fairness to Browning, he was being asked to play out of position much of the time due to UWM's lack of a true point guard. Still, his overall impact was nowhere near what it was expected to be coming into a season with exceedingly high expectations.
Browning was the lone scholarship player remaining from the Pat Baldwin era. He played in 54 games at UWM.
To help fill the void caused by Browning's absence, freshman Makuei Riek is planning to drop his redshirt and will be available moving forward for the Panthers.
A 6-6, 170-pounder from Rochester, Minnesota, Riek is raw but also is a solid athlete capable of playing multiple positions.
UWM, which next hosts Tennessee-Chattanooga at 1 p.m. Friday, is also expected to get leading scorer BJ Freeman and key reserve Langston Wilson back from injuries in the short term.

Last year everyone acted like Lundy was the greatest thing since Bruce Pearl. Now he’s on PBS level.

Last year everyone acted like Lundy was the greatest thing since Bruce Pearl. Now he’s on PBS level. That’s a fair evaluation. Can you really blame us though? We were sold another paper tiger by Amanda Braun but now know it. We wanted him to be the guy so bad that we probably gave him too much praise too early. Over the last 9 months or so he has made some extremely questionable personnel decisions whether it be recruiting or dismissals of players. He deserves the hot seat, and his chair is only getting hotter with these kinds of decisions.
