Just a thought...
Maybe the bucks should team up with summerfest and build a new arena in place of the aging Marcus Amphitheater. Summerfest has wanted to remodel the amp for some time but can't find a sponsor to do so. They also have difficulty putting on large stadium acts because the stage size and structural capacity of the venue. Perhaps 2 birds can be killed with 1 stone here, bucks get a top flight venue with lake views, and the festival grounds get a venue capable of hosting bigger acts. Could be a great asset for the city, imagine the game day aerial shots...

Don't get caught up in the bullsh*t they're spewing. This isn't about vistas. It's about money. They wouldn't want the Amphitheater because they wouldn't control all the land around it, and couldn't make money off of it. They don't want 4th and Wisconsin for the same reason, even though it's obviously the best of the proposed sites.
It's about f***ing money. They don't give a sh*t about UWM, Marquette, the Admirals, or anybody. They give a sh*t about putting as much money in their pockets. The only reason they're talking about a second arena for UWM is because we raised hell about it. The "we can do 3-4,000 bleachers" line tells you all you need to know. They will do the absolute minimum to save face and not piss people off. Wasn't it obvious when they only came up with $100 million between the two of them to begin with? These guys could fund the damn arena themselves out of the change in the cigarette tray in their 1991 Chevy Corsica (I don't know why they won't upgrade, I guess it has sentimental value).
Everyone is so giddy about getting an arena at a discount price that they're willing to cut off our nose to spite our face. Forget that it's in the region's best interest that UWM is as strong as possible, and for it to be as strong as possible it needs its marketing arm (men's basketball) as strong as possible. So, f*** UWM because only a couple thousand people go to games right now.
I'm sorry. We're getting a couple shysters from NYC coming in here and spinning a web, and we're going to get f***ed in the process because this university never, never, never took basketball seriously. How long have we been saying this? Every time there's a new AD, a new Chancellor, we have to start over with this sh*t. And the message never got through.
And now, we're going to pay for it. Big time. Awesome.
I'm not so sure that's not what the rest of the university wants.

First (small) piece of good news in a couple months. I'll take whatever I can get.

This is not a small piece of good news. This is very encouraging.

This is much bigger than I think people understand. Unless they can acquire more than just the panther arena and theatre I can almost guarantee they wont build the arena there. They don't want to have to tear down the BC in order to build the arena portion of their plan because it means no place to play while its being built. Our space and the theatre aren't enough for what they have in mind. So if the JS site falls through we are safe.
Will the JS site fall through? I don't know. This could be a tactic to speed things up on the JS end or an attempt to scare or power play the bucks ownership into making things more favorable for JS. Who knows with this rag of a paper. Its not like we are ever being told the whole/correct story

The ground at 333 W. State St. is clearly contaminated. Who's going to pay for its cleanup? There's a possible snag.

The Journal has a century of toxic ink underneath it. The cleanup could take a long time.
I'm sleeping well tonight. See you all at DePaul.

The Journal has a century of toxic ink underneath it. Impressive since Roquemore was only there a handful of years.

A real "snag" or simply a negotiating tactic? Too early to tell.

A real "snag" or simply a negotiating tactic? Too early to tell. Let the hostage-holding begin. Milwaukee, it's your move.

This is not a small piece of good news. This is very encouraging. I'll consider it big news and jump up and down when this site is officially declared dead as an option. However, this may be a step in the right direction.

It's better than the alternative for the moment, but you're right: it could be a smoke screen.
