www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/bmo-harris-bradley-center-posts-19-million-loss-for-fiscal-2014-b99407337z1-285576261.htmlLooks like the snag in the Journal Communications building is not a negotiating tactic, but truly good news for Panther fans. Per the article... "Talks between Journal Communications, which owns a square block near the BMO Harris Bradley Center, and the Bucks have hit a snag. Sources say it is now unlikely Journal Communications, publisher of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and the Bucks will be able to reach agreement on sale of the property as part of a new arena site. For months, the Bucks targeted the Journal Communications land, plus the land now occupied by the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena and possibly the Milwaukee Theatre, as the preferred site. With that site now in doubt, the Bucks have focused on the BMO Harris Bradley Center land, as well as city-owned land at the corner of N. 4th St. and W. Wisconsin Ave., and land at the corner of N. 2nd and W. Michigan streets."

While I'm still not feeling comfortable about this whole situation at all, any delay is good news for UWM at this point. The Bucks' owners are on a tight clock to build an arena by 2017, and even a delay of a month or two could make a huge difference, especially given the fact that one of the biggest opponents of using the UWM Panther Arena site, at least at this point, is Frank Gimbel, who is also known to be quite litigious in these situations.

Completely agree. Steven Smith: "I didn't know you were so litigious." Frank Gimbel: "Oh, I'm quite litigious!"

"Should 'anything' happen to Panther Arena, we'll be taken care of," Mone said.
Just remember that even a three-year move back to Klotsche is a death sentence for our Division 1 program.
Like the NYC hedge-fund investors, the rest of the college basketball world isn't sitting still.

Like the NYC hedge-fund investors, the rest of the college basketball world isn't sitting still. "We'll be taken care of?" That's exactly what scares us. Who is going to take care of us? I don't see any Arena fairies floating around waiting to sprinkle their magic dust on us. I see some very hard edged money men and politicians whose idea of taking care of us may be nothing more than to whisper enough non guaranteed "secondary venue" blue sky into our ears that we won't realize exactly how we're being taken care of: by the wrecking ball falling on almost 70 years of Milwaukee's cultural and sports history -- and not coincidentally on the Panther program. That'll "take care of us" alright. What would have been so hard about this statement? "We're not standing in the way of the Bucks at all -- and we're not moving."

Sounds like no official decision will be made until the first part of 2015, but we are in a much better position now than we were before. Seems like the owners, Don Walker, Rich Kirchen, and essentially all of the sources think the Panther Arena will be safe. Only the Panther fans are left freaking out calling it a negotiation tactic (myself included).
I am very much looking forward to the end of this drama. Hopefully it will be resolved with a new arena being built on the vacant land north of the Bradley Center and I can continue to worry only about free throw percentage, turnovers, APR ban, recruiting classes, annoying Green Bay fans, blowing 20 point leads, having no students show up, having no fans show up, etc... Someone remind me again why we love this team so much?? Just joking.

Not freaking out, but not resting comfortably either until we know that the Panther Arena is safe!

Agreed. The Wisconsin game was the program's 250th regular-season contest at The Arena. Here's to many, many, many more.

Where do we find this survey? I would like to give them by 2, 3 and 4 cents.

Where do we find this survey? I would like to give them by 2, 3 and 4 cents. As a Bucks partial season ticket holder the survey was emailed to me. The version I completed had very little to do with the location other than indicating downtown. Most of the survey was centered on where I would want to sit in the new arena, how much I would be willing to pay, how many games I would go to, the value of seats and concessions and the importance of other arena amenities.
For the Panther fans I think you will be pleased to know that there were questions about how I spend money on other entertainment and Milwaukee Panthers was an option to click on and not a fill in the blank.

Until there are shovels in the ground north of the BC (or at the Wisconsin Avenue or Michigan Street sites) we would be foolish to think this is over. I desperately hope the University administration is being VERY consistent in letting the Bucks and the City know what a disaster it would be for the University to lose the Arena. I have made my position known to the University administration in the most effective way I can.
