If the Klotsche Krazies had a hall-of-fame, SRT's performance in the Green Bay v.s. Butler Horizon League semi-final would certainly assure him a seat. What can I say, I had to make up for the 20-some UWM games I missed out on attending that season. Was it the "white coming off your jersey number", or the "ball too dark" comment to Tillema that clinched it? And I see that our soccer men won in dominating fashion again today... livestats.www.collegesports.com/livestats/data/m-soccer/443644/gt_index.htmlNice to see them completely destroy a team that the Badgers seemed to have some trouble with two days ago. I'd call that a good sign. 28 shots with 17 of them On Goal, second game in a row creating plenty of offense. Hopefully that puts an end to the offensive funk they seemed to be in the first 2 matches and all pre-season. And another great performance by Grant Fernstrum, 5 saves and yet another shut-out for last years #1 NCAA GK. EDIT: Box score's been posted. Another great crowd, must have been fun... uwmpanthers.cstv.com/sports/m-soccer/stats/090306aaa.htmlRecap's up now too: uwmpanthers.cstv.com/sports/m-soccer/recaps/090306aad.html

Today's match was a blast. 4-0, but probably should've been about 6 or 7-0. We developed a few new chants thanks to a new student from England. This guy was hilarious. Overall, great atmosphere, but we have to get more students out for matches. I definetely had as much fun today as I have at basketball games.

I would've been there except some f**king piece of s**t smashed my car window while I was at work today. Oh well.
Next weekend they play #14 creighton and #25 washington. Should be very tough. If we're 3-3 after next weekend I'll be satisfied.

So who's all making the short trip to Madison this weekend to see the Panthers take on the Blue Jays or Huskies? Anyone going to both games? Madison's a great place to catch a soccer match, it was a fun atmosphere for our game their two years ago.

Man, I think Danny Pritchard, the Lipscomb keeper, may be suffering from fits of depression after we got done with him today.

I think IPFW's keeper is depressed; so far they lost to wright state 4-0, butler 5-0, uwm 3-0, and wisconsin 7-0.

The Oakland game. I remember it well. Oh man, that was great. That guy deserves a seat as well, whoever he was.

So the new Top 25 poll from Soccer America is out this week, and they have Washington up to #16, but Creighton has dropped from the top 25. And after an incredibly strong start to their season, UIC enters the poll at #18... www.socceramerica.com/article.asp?Art_ID=562137579A full recap of this weeks action for all 8 HL teams, including our own Grant Fernstrum being named league player of the week, can be found here... horizonleague.cstv.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/090406aac.htmlI think the HL screwed up in that release by saying we won our Panther Invitational, when unfortunately Madison did by virtue of scoring one more goal than we did during the tourney. Also, future opponent Northern Illinois beat #20 Michigan St. at MSU's tourney with 18.5 seconds left in double-OT... niuhuskies.cstv.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/090306aab.htmlWe play NIU at Engelmann Sunday, Oct. 1st for the right to retain posession of the traveling John LeWang memorial trophy.

UIC has yet to impress me this season. They tied Depaul, a bottom-feeding big east team, beat UMKC, Bradley, and St. Louis. As far as I'm concerned, St. Louis is the only impressive win, and they beat them while they were down a man for over half the game. If UIC is as good as advertised, they should be able to go into Wisconsin and win.
Butler was ranked last season and then dropped over half of their remaining games. Long story short, being ranked at the beginning of the season means nothing.
UWM has to travel to detroit and UIC, though. Those 2 teams are their 2 toughest matchups this season in conference.

I see it takes a lot to impress you. A St. Louis win on the road, as their home opener, which they have never lost, is huge. There were almost 3000 fans there. Bradley is also a big win...sure, they're not ranked, but they are a decent in-state rival that has spent time in the tourney. As for Depaul, that is also an in-state rivalry and despite tying them 0-0, what that score doesn't tell you is Depaul didn't have a single shot on goal the entire double-overtime match. I'm sure all of these things are taken into account when forming the rankings. I believe UIC is very deserving of its spot. A big test will come this weekend when we travel to very highly ranked UCSB. Hopefully, we can pull one off.

Besides, they lost their goalkeeper to Major League Soccer, so they're probably not as good as even last year's team. I bet you eye see wouldn't have skirted in a goal on that guy in the last 20 seconds.

I bet you eye see wouldn't have skirted in a goal on that guy in the last 20 seconds. That's besides the point...and we did play them last year and lost but we did score on him. I guess you're right....next year, we should play IPFW and Lipscomb instead. Bradley is a solid team.
