MILWAUKEE PROUD - PANTHER STRONG

I like that idea if our school is the one with the naming rights. But have a big panther logo that says Milwaukee underneath. Also like the idea if its somebody else who procures the naming rights, but that will never happen. Honestly guys, the UWM arena is better than nothing Milwaukee panthers or school related. I know that its not what we want, but its publicity and good publicity at that. It might not help out name problem but its a damn good sized college arena with our school's name on it. That in its self is a huge plus. Whether its a name we agree with or not.

Only partially facetious. Also, calling it the MECCA makes no sense. That acronym ceased to exist around 1994, it doesn't represent anything anymore.

So call it the Mecca, no acronym. If the university is going to go in on the naming rights they should just look into buying the damn building as was floating around before. Naming rights will be a $2-3 million investment every few years (probably a lot more, since US Cellular purchased the rights for $2.4 million a whole seven years ago), likely until we get our mythical On Campus Arena built, on top of the existing ~$200,000 lease, and suddenly a lot of the price tag that was negotiated away during the one-year Klotsche stint has been essentially reinstated. It is completely fiscally unreasonable for this particular university to procure naming rights for an arena it is also leasing.
A $2.4 million, 7-year naming rights purchase amounts to more than $300,000 per year, essentially meaning we would be paying more for the arena than we did before, when it was threatening to bankrupt the athletic department.

Cool, let's buy the arena. With what i can afford (the change in my pocket), we're only several million dollars short of the purchase price

I'm hearing that Michael Zimmerman, CEO of The Rock Sports Complex in Franklin, is trying to get the naming rights for the arena. It should be worth noting that he is also part of the ownership group for the Milwaukee Wave.
The Rock Arena aka The Rock. Has a nice ring to it actually.

The student section could be the Mosh Pit.

Only partially facetious. Also, calling it the MECCA makes no sense. That acronym ceased to exist around 1994, it doesn't represent anything anymore. But it can make sense now. MECCA stood for Milwaukee Exposition, Convention Center, and Arena. With the Milwaukee Theater, it can now stand for Milwaukee Entertainment (Milwaukee Theater), Convention Center (Wisconsin Center), and Arena (Milwaukee Arena?). If the City of Milwaukee had a mayor with civic pride something interesting could happen. But it doesn't have that mayor. And I say this having met Barrett years ago when he was in Congress. He is a very intelligent and very nice person. At least in the public eye he doesn't have the pride and vision that Norquist had. For example, where was his leadership on the Water Institute? Sorry for digressing. So bring back the MECCA!

"Wave owner Mike Zimmerman told the Milwaukee Business Journal his organization will not be the new naming-rights sponsor."
Looks like The Rock Arena is out as an option. Wonder who the new sponsor will be...
