Whatever. I'm so done with making Marquette out to be the big bad enemy when obviously the school that's a bigger problem is Wisconsin. Oh sure, the Badgers will play us, but they won't come out of their cozy home more than once every five years.

I like Marquette, but is it even a "high-major" anymore?

Oh sure, the Badgers will play us, but they won't come out of their cozy home more than once every five years. If that's obvious to you few in authority share your opinion when our budget this year is being significantly augmented by our agreement with them and their willingness to switch home years. One of these programs doesn't see us as any kind of threat whatsoever. One has an existential fear that eventually the truth of numbers will out. They both act accordingly. You are welcome to resent either attitude, but the proof is in the pudding as to how these attitudes affect us. Just look at our schedule.

The NBE is a great mid-major + conference, like the A10 or the MoVal or the Mountain West. If Marquette fans think that's a knock coming from us they are very mistaken. Mid-major fans like us know how good the level of play is in mid-major leagues, and know that it is not uncommon for mid-major schools to be as good or better than many "high major" teams in any given year. But you can't ignore the reality of what has happened in college conference reshuffling. It is what it is, and the NBE is not the BE. Not even close.

The New Big East is much much better than staying put in the American Conference. Schools like ECU, Tulane, Tulsa, USF, UCF and Houston really doesn't do it as like mind schools and midwestern fit. Yes they have UConn, Cinny and Memphis but if the Big 12 comes calling when they don't make the 4-team playoff one year in football because they don't have a championship title game, they will go to 12 schools.

Interesting football commentary. It relates to the status of the NBE how exactly?

It relates to the old Big East. If the Big 12 comes calling for UConn or/and Cincy they are gone in a heartbeat. It was solid move for the C-7 schools to leave the Big East, which is now named the American which like most leagues is football driven. The NBE are likeminded schools with no FBS football.

No doubt. If you went back and looked you would find that many of us were calling that shot for years that the non-football Catholic schools had to get out ahead of the inevitable by forming their own league. Good for them that they finally did. But to suggest that the NBE is on a par or ever will be with the ACC, the B1G, the SEC, etc., is ludicrous. Welcome to the new reality.

I'm not going to say if it is or isn't on par with the ACC, B1G, Pac-12, SEC or Big 12 and I don't think I ever did say that it is on par. I'm not in the business of labeling leagues. Butler proved that in the HL. Gonzaga did in the WCC. Memphis did in the new look Conf. USA days. You can also add Wichia State, VCU to that list as well. Leagues change every year in the world of one and dones. The SEC only had Florida as a power and UK as a #8 seed and Tennessee who made it to Dayton for the "First Four". Heck, Dick Vitale's might ACC only had one school to make it to the sweet 16. When it comes to TV money because of football, the Big East, American, Mt. West, etc isn't on par with the power 5. No doubt about it! The power-5 has the money, but the Big East is doing very well as a league in recruiting. The Big East will have at least ten controlled games on either CBS or FOX, which is more than the ACC, SEC, American or Big 12. Thanks, to Fox Sports 1 TV money, it finally did make the C-7 make their own conference.

Now I hope to get back on topic on this thread about the Panthers schedule, when do home game times come out? It a bit odd as the schedule came out, but no game times.
Edit: Game times should be out in the next couple of weeks.
