Won't he just go away? How old is Begel, anyway? He's got to be giving Methuselah a run for his money.

(Okay, i'll stop calling you Shirley).

Interestingly, the release of Airplane roughly coincides with the last remotely relevant piece written by Begel.

With the changes I think we will be seeing in the Horizon League in the next year, this is a terrible, terrible time to be in complete and utter disarray. If Butler for (insert inferior team here) is the only swap, I'll be delightfully relieved.

I talk to people at every athletic department in the conference.
Everyone - and I mean, EVERYONE - is looking at their options and having discussions with other conferences.

This whole scenario just blows. Big time.

This whole scenario just blows. Big time. We don't need an athletics director; we need a marine biologist.

Cheer at our first home game -- "IR - RELE - VANT"
The entire scenario is so sad. Just six years ago the school was still basking in its brief former glory. Some programs are moving forward (Butler), while we are stuck and moving backwards quickly.

For anyone willing to jump ship on Milwaukee, that's fine. Don't come back though when things are really happening. I bust my butt for this university and the athletics programs. I'm not about to give up yet and hopefully others aren't either. When things get tough, Panthers don't back down.

It's the remaining casual fans. Lose them and it's game over.

If we were playing "Dead or Alive" trivia.....and someone said "Dave Begel", I would have guessed "dead". After reading the article, I'm still not convinced that he's alive.
