Fantastic move for Louis and Marquette. Wish them both a ton of success. The Big East is paying dividends for Marquette not just in basketball but in soccer as well. He will recruit a ton of local talent there.

That was like a sharp kick to the balls....I dont even really care about soccer but it hurts to have a coach go across town. Must have been a big ol' pay raise so I cant blame him.

Actually the only Dombrowski left is Zeke, and he's a very good player, but he's not crucial to the team's success. Bennett was extremely successful at bringing in local talent, as well as top Minnesota players. Given UWM's success, and Wisconsin's history as an excellent soccer state, this is not the end of the world, but it still really sucks.

I'm sure UWM will still be plenty successful in recruiting talent. I only hope we can advance further in the tourney next year and maybe make coach rethink the move.

Alright, now that I've had time to vent, I'm not as mad, but still upset.
Consider Jeff Rohrman at UW; he's a solid coach who can recruit, but he still struggles with Big Ten games because he's basically overmatched; IU, Michigan, and PSU are teams that recruit NSCAA all americans. I'm sure Bennett knows this, and realizes he has to recruit nationally to win. I just hope he doesn't pick up the best WI and MN talent in the process.
In order for UWM to continue its success, they need a solid new head coach (maybe Stan Anderson?) who can continue the good recruiting that the program has had the last 6 years.
Wisconsin is an awesome soccer state, and UWM is a hot team to coach right now, so UWM is not licked yet.

Bad news. Bob Gansler left to coach the US National Team Brian Tompkins left to coach Yale Sasho Cirovski left to coach Harftford then to Maryland Louis Bennett leaves to coach the gold Looks like the assistant took over each time (correct me if I'm wrong, I've been to zero soccer games in my life). Here's Anderson's bio: uwmpanthers.collegesports.com/sports/m-soccer/mtt/anderson_stan00.htmlHere's to Bennett getting cold feet and asking for his job back ala Ken Anderson. Good luck to Bennett but not his team, if that's possible.

This is a painful loss, but nothing close to a death blow to the program. The soccer team has tons of young talent, and Bud will find the best possible coach to lead them back to the NCAA Tournament next season.
I can't blame Marquette for coming after Bennett since their soccer program is in bad shape right now. Their fans should be happy that their AD knows to look to the east side to find the best and brightest. They employ a very good strategy in if they can't beat us they will just buy our coach... ;D

Pearl, Bennett, who is next?

UWM on the other hand should still be fine.

We can have differing opinions of UWM, but I'd take our soccer program over MU's any day. Bennett made a very good career move in going to MU for its better national exposure in the Big East, and larger pockets. The fact remains we are 24-7-2 against MU all-time in soccer. You may have the better basketball program, but we maintain the best soccer program in the state.
I do wish Marquette best of luck in soccer next year. I actually hold no hard feelings against you guys. You give us sh*t and we give it back, playful fun for everyone and hopefully the advancement of the city of Milwaukee.
Now that you have our former coach, you better put up a better fight than that 4-0 spanking we gave you this year.

Coming from someone who closely follows the 3 Wisconsin programs (I don't count UWGB), I can say with complete honesty that UWM blows the other 2 out of the water; MU has had talent but lacked a great coach (which they may have fixed), but are now in the Big East... good luck with that. Wisconsin has an unbelievable junior class; I played club against these guys- they all used to play on the same club and ODP teams. To be honest, they're much better than their record shows.
But UWM has always outdone themselves recruiting from Minnesota and here... my biggest concern is this is going to be hampered by Bennett doing the same thing at Marquette. And of course let's not forget that UWM just probably lost every recruit this season.
I'm actually very eager to see who they'll pick up as the next coach... Wisconsin has some ridiculous coaching talent and they'd be picking up a program (and a team- 16 upperclassmen) in their prime.
I hope Marquette crashes and burns in the Big East, and best of luck to Bud Haidet finding a new coach.
