Thing that gets me is why? Soccer isn't like Basketball. We played quality opponents outside our conference. Staying at UWM gave the guy an auto-bid via the HL to the big Dance. Going across town to a program with a history of underachieving is dicey at best.
I think all this crap he said about the challenge etc. must be just that. After all what about the challenge of bringing us to the Final Four?
At least he could have been honest and said, "MU is jealous of UWM's success so they bought me."

Louis admits that a lot of people will think he's crazy for taking the move. But, there are a couple reasons why I can understand his decision. First, the opportunity to play in the Big East, which is traditionally one of the best soccer conferences in the country. I'm sure Louis believes he can turn Marquette into a "Big East Power." That means a lot more than domination in the HL. It means you have a legitimate shot, and sometime may be the favorite, to win the national championship.
Second, as has been addressed, the opportunity to put his kids through college for free to virtually any jesuit school is a might nice financial incentive, to the tune of about $350K.

He'll have his hands full in the Big East... I don't see Marquette soccer advancing to the NCAA tournament for years.
One positive aspect is this will fuel the rivalry between UWM and Marquette soccer.

Just my information...
Stan would be a great head coach, but part of Louie leaving was taking care of his own. Stan will be making more than Louie was as a head coach...as the assistant coach at MU. This is a major blow to UWM to lose both of these individuals.
Look for the following to happen (in some combination of ways):
1. Bob Spielmann to come on as an assistant at MU or as the head coach or assistant coach at UWM
2. Jon Coleman to be the head or or assistant at UWM
Spielmann has major connections in the Wisconsin soccer community. He would be a great addition to either staff...hopefully for UWM they take a serious look at him.
I personally think JC's heart would make him the ideal choice, I just don't know if he has the experience. No one bleeds the Black and Gold more than he does...
I also could see some of the UWM players going over to the darkside...especially if they take Spielmann as their 2nd assistant. (Troy and Grant to name a few...)

Another top candidate will likely by Jon Szczepanski - UWM grad, former pro player and current UW assistant.

Coach Coleman will get the nod and many alum will be in the running for assistant positions. The program will be fine. Haidet getting out of his chair and inquiring about keeping BOTH Anderson and Coleman would have been the proper AD thing to do. The dude is asleep at the wheel.
