"...the Rockets made eight of 10 free throws down the stretch to pull out the win."
So is that result of pmck's patented free-throw drills, or is Toledo so good that they escaped having to do those drills?

How can you be in the Horizon league and have an "NAIA foe" ?

I figured I'd take a little time to switch back and forth between the 2 games on espn 3 tonight - UIC Pitt and TOledo Illinois. My observations:
To refer to Toledo's offense and defense as anything other than chaotic would be doing the poor man a disservice. They sink on defense and are giving the Illini all kinds of open looks, in fact, Illinois didn't miss a shot until they had scored 25, and the game was essentially over by this point. It brought me a lot of pleasure, and I can say the poor man has his work cut out to match the 4 win total Toledo had last year.
UIC by contrast played a much better team, and had flashes of excellence despite being over matched by Pitts athleticism. With guys like Gilbert Brown, Pitts athleticism will be a challenge for almost any program, and outside of a few runs UIC has been able to hang. I would say at this point I wouldn't take a win VS UIC for granted, especially at their place.

I expect UIC to finish higher than Loyola. Loyola could easily end up at 9th with 16 or 17 wins. 1. Butler 2. Milwaukee 3. Detroit 4. Cleveland State 5. Wright State 6. Valparaiso 7. UIC8. Green Bay 9. Loyola 10. Youngstown State 1-4 and 5-8 could be in any other order. Been sayin' it for weeks. UIC will be better than people think this year.

But you never really say why.. What does UIC have that you know about that makes you believe that? Just curious...

A much, much better coach and by all accounts a surprisingly good recruiting class for a team that's already got two game-breakers, Kreps and Neely. And Bo Ryan-trained coaches just tend to be winners; North Dakota State and UWM have already seen some level of success on the Bo Ryan coaching tree.
Plus there's the fact that I don't see Loyola and Youngstown going anywhere, and Green Bay, though sure to benefit in the long run from PMCK's departure, is too small and has experienced far too much immediate turnover (five departed seniors and a departed coach). If they finish better than 7th or 8th, I'll be surprised.
