I agree with those who issue words of caution about cheer section leaders etc. Work with the cheerleaders. They told me last year they'll do any cheer the students want (within reason of course). Then get your leaders to join in to get the crowd going.
Students come to the games to blow off steam. Their professors tell them what to do, so do their employers, parents, girlfriends/boyfriends etc. The last thing they want is to go out for a good time and have "section leaders" doing it too.

The last thing they want is to go out for a good time and have "section leaders" doing it too. the only time jdbrew and myself tell them to do things is to stop popping the middle finger and dropping f-bombs like they're going out of style. besides that we try to encourage those around us to join in. also, myself and another person to whom is no longer affiliated w/ the board tried convincing jdbrew to wear pasties last season. w/ the help from others, we can still make this plan come alive! show your support and help me persuade jdbrew to publicly embarrass himself @ each and every home game and maybe even a few road games. someone's gotta pick up the slack for fan's absence. anyways, when is a good time for others to meet up?

You know, it must be a Buccaneer thing. This pasty idea is real popular with you Tampa Bay backers.

How about Holic dancing in a leprechaun suit during free throws.

Yeah, nothing beats chanting in a British accent. Especially when it's 50,000 people at once... even if they are British.

all right folks, the season is nigh and we still haven't gotten a meeting set up. i know not everyone's schedule will line up but there's nothing we can do about it. i want to meet w/ whoever wants to improve on last year's efforts from the student section. we'd meet on campus, let's say near the food court in the union. my availability is Monday and Tuesday nights and Fridays until 4pm. PM me if you're available and we can talk which days work out but its gotta be soon considering the first exhibition game is Nov. 1st. for those who can't make it and for season ticket holders who have suggestions, PM me w/ them and i'll include them whenever the meeting occurs.

This maybe obvious, but a short original call like "Go Green!" that can be whipped out numerous times a game, that the rest of the arena could pick up on and join in on would be definitely help. Something that can could be used year to year as a team charge. I often try to figure out what the students are yelling and it's very hard, and they aren't used consistantly.

Please don't try and organize the student section. It honestly just ruins the whole experience.

I couldn't disagree more. Tradition has to start with the student section.
If you don't want to participate, you don't have to.

I know, whenever I see incredibly organized student sections on TV, like Duke's Cameron Crazies, I can really tell just how agonizingly painful and "ruined" the experience is for them.
