I am just curious why you all hate GB so much? UWM is ahead of them, I would think people would support another state school, who most of you probably grew up envying? You would think that if Wisconson had 4 D1 teams with 20 wins, that would kick ass....But not to you guys, nope, you gotta hate anything that isn't UWM.... Grow up.

Personally, I didn't grow up here, so I have no loyalty to anyone but UWM as far as Wisconsin goes. My uncle lives in Green Bay and always gives me sh*t about UWGB and that NFL team they have up there, so I actually do have reason to not like them.
That and the whole "Bite me" thing was just too damn funny.
And MU's not getting 20 wins either, so it wouldn't happen anyway.

Why should we root for GB? Because they're in Wisconsin? I'm sorry, but that is just dumb if that is in fact your reasoning. Next, Wisconsin, does not end with "son" as you so spelled it.

First off... Excuse my typing error. I accidentally spelled Wisconsin wrong.. Forgot people aren't supposed to make mistakes once in a while. Second, neither it nor I am "dumb" for thinking that. It's beyond "just living in Wisconsin". It's the whole aspect of things. I am not saying you have to go buy a UWGB t-shirt or anything, but wouldnt' it be nice to have a inner-state, inner-conference rival who makes for a great game everytime these two teams play? There comes a time when you have to paly/beat decent teams to get recognized, why not have it be another team in the state??? Don't take things so literally, but if you guys were following this whole basketball thing so close as you do now three years ago you would understand. Remember that little cartoon in the JS? The one that had a player from UWM, MU, and UW all going to the tourney? Why not add a fourth to the picture... Four Wisconsin teams with 20 wins, damn, who'd have ever thought. All I was saying was open your minds. Something exciting is happening in Wisconsin basketball... Build the rivalry's, not the "hate everything that isn't UWM" Maybe that is also the first step into playing MU...
Just a few thoughts, GO PANTHERS!

im acctually kind of rooting for GB now that we have the conference locked up, i mean, the better GBs record i think the more fans will come to the tourny championship should both teams make it, which i think they will, but yea i hope they both do cause i think that championship game could be the biggest one yet in the past 3 years.
and dont criticize peoples spelling, cause a lot of us cant spell well, like myself.

so bball should someone from Cinncy who is a Bearcat fan root for Xavier when they are doing good because there are in the same state, or a fan in chicago who is a cubs fan root for the sox if they are doing good, or another example, someone from new york root for the yankees and mets? come on get real. it is a dumb comment jsut because they are an in state team doesn't not require us to root for them in any fashion.
Yes i do remeber the cartoon from 3 years ago, and would it be cool to get a fourth school in there, yeah sure why not but not if it comes at the expense of beating us and that seems to be the only way that GB is going to be making the tourney any time soon.
I don't really think that there is a hatred for GB, but i won't lie and say that i like them. To me the real rivalary, besides the in-state with GB, in teh conference is with UIC. There is history there between the coaches (not going to get into it there is no need just mentioning the history) and of course there is just the natural border war. Same reason that you see Bear vs. Packer rivalary, and Brewers vs. Cubs.
You know what though if you are so fixed on this whole notion of "why don't poeple from UWM like UWGB?" you really need to find another place to vent it, you know maybe you can start your own GB board because god knows the one thy have right now is pretty crap-tacular.

Given the fact that GB were in a different conference, then sure we would be rooting them on for success. We're not going to be passive about them simply because we're within the same state line. To say it's a hatred of them is definatley going too far, however, we are allowed to go against them as UWM fans.

Dutchpthr.....
You really seem like a great guy. I haven't once personally attacked anyone on this board, yet for some reason you feel the need to? That's so nice of you guys to have an open board, but as soon as someone disagrees with you, you make them feel not welcome. that's the whole point of a discussion board isn't it? All I was saying was open your minds a little bit, create a in state rivalry. of course i am not for seeing gb beat uwm, but wouldn't it be nice if the game meant something? i never once said any sucess that gb should have should come at the expense of uwm. my simply question had the ability to piss you off this bad, im sorry.... that's not my problem. You can't tell me that everytime the two rival teams play, the fans aren't hoping for a good game. if it was a blow out all the time, no one would watch. You are hooked on the fact that i used a geographical reference to the two schools. let that go, I am talking about some wisconsin pride. sending 4 teams to the dance. everyone playing good ball, getting good press, and everyone having a damn good time. but what's my point of view worth anyway? it wouldn't even be taken into consideration. And god forbid you spell something wrong...

UWM and UWGB used to be our biggest rivalry when Bo was coach. I recall the game @ the KC 4 years ago and students needed to get tickets for the game (for free of course) just because the overall turnout, especially from GB fans, was so great. Unfortunately UWGB hasn't kept up with the pace at which UWM has grown.

THe realy question is why dont we like gb and root for them. mmmmmmmmhmmmmmmm
can someone buy him a clue?
first of all, if youre trying to convince me and us to root for them you are doing a bad job and media coverage and the idea of sending 4 teams the ncaa tournament is not very persurasive.
first, the idea of more media coverage is not the greatest. If you have a writter who decides to write a story about how wi is great for college hoops they are only going to cover madison and mu. Given mentions to UWM and GB. Saying how they are the little brother to WI. Which some of you might say is better than nothing, but then right away our team gets written off as sombodies shadow.
additionally, why even ask for someone to like someone if they dont. even if you find it unrational, if you were a student at the resh center and you watched the panthers lose in front of a butt load of people. and you didnt get upset, well i would say youre just dead inside. Watching the panthers lose was a hard pill to swallow and i wont forget who did it. Maybe you should try coming to more games and becoming passionate.
THere is no reason to like GB since a. they are in the same confrence b. they are not a strong team and we might as well root for UW PARKSIDE over GB c. our rooting does nothing for us. d. interstate teams always become rivials. hello USC V UCLA why dont you ask the trojans why they dont like ucla. duh.
I would also like to cross refrence the MU Wi game. I went to that game and they were plain ole nasty to WI. MU fans treated WI as if they were blood enemies and spared no remorse for WI. This is what happens when you put two schools from the same state on the bastetball court. You do not like them bc they for 1. didnt go to your schoo, 2. you visited gb and said "wow there is no way im going to attend this college." they are playing your basketball team. 3. when the players step off the court you dont turn off those feelings.
man alive. i will hate GB even after tony bennett comes back and brings gb to the ncaa tournament. beating gb by 30 points feels better than just barley beating them.
