Positives:
-- I saw very good buy-in to the offense RJ wants to run. A lot of inversions. We're helped by having a lot of guard/forward types who are physically comfortable on the block. And Adrian Tigert was born for this offense.
-- Obviously, RJ knows a good thing when he sees it and is committed to the press. With the depth and quickness on this team, it's a tremendous weapon.
-- Kaylan Anderson is a smooth athlete. I'm telling you right now in four years he'll be considered one of our best players ever.
-- Massiah and Young bring a lot of talent. Tyrone got lost on offense a few times and took some bad shots occasionally, but you can tell he's still processing the offense. Once it's second nature he's going to be very tough. Massiah has a really good body-type and skillset for this offense. As second line players this year, they will be very valuable.
-- The crowd. Pretty jacked up for an exhibition opener against a D2 team. I thgought the announced attendance was a little heavy. I'd have guessed just under 4k, but I'm sure season tickets were counted.
-- Boo Davis and Joah Tucker. I will be surprised if both these guys aren't playing professionally for a while after this year. Maybe not the NBA, but I wouldn't bet against it, either.
-- Derrick Wimmer looks so much better than he did a year ago to me. I think he will be a valuable reserve.
Negatives
-- Pray every night that Adrian isn't injured. DF needs to be stronger with the ball in his hands. We just don't have enough effective size up front.
-- Spotlight on the new banners should have been brighter.
Boy it was good to see some college hoops!

So for those of you who went to the game, how was the half court set? Is it looking like we'll be a bit better in the half court this year than last year?

Another impressive thing about last night ... the buzz at Goolsby's. There has never been trouble finding a table before an exhibition game ... until last night; a lot of gold shirts in attendance. And once 8 p.m. neared, the place cleared out.
Unreal.

The student section blew my mind last night. I can't believe that the risers were full when we got there a little after 7. This is a great sign. How awesome was that intro movie on the scoreboard? It gave me chills... even though we were all screaming so much that you couldnt hear it If we made that place rock in an exhibition game against friggen UW-Parkside... can you imagine what it's going to be like when the games count?

One thing I would like to see them do is turn off all the lights during the intros and turn up the sound. Then the spotlight will be more noticable, the intro video would be that much cooler and it would make that place even more louder.
I did notice the intro was just the commercial because they didn't cut it off in time and started to play the season tickets pitch. So I wonder if that's going to be the final version of the video or if it's still being worked on.

I think the game was GREAT! No, we didn't go out and play like we did against Alabama, but we didn't need to, and I think the fact that we held back a little is very smart! I'm glad we saw a lot of playing time for a lot of the guys. Also, was it just me, or was Pancratz really hitting them last night...10 points! He rarely took a shot last year, that was good to see. About the student section, yeah, good turnout, however it was a LITTLE irritating to be surrounded by a lot of people who had no clue...for example, one insisted Adrian's last name was tiggert, and that Mark's name was Mike. Then there were the ones who obviously just studied the roster...example there: "That's Tigert, 6'7" from Ohkosh" we don't need a roster report throughout the whole game, you know. Overall, I loved the game! Of course it was the first panther game this season, so we could have played much worse than we did, and I would still have just been happy to be there! Whoa take it easy, there is plenty of room on the bandwagon, just like the team needs some preseason so do the young new fans. I'll take 3,000 fans who don't know much over 200 who think they know it all.

What a great start to the season! I love hearing how much buzz there was at all points...waiting for busses, Goolsbys, Student Section. How sweet would it be to have two student sections, one at each end of the floors. Just think if that attendance of 4,000 were in the KC...that would be a near full house for just an exhibition! I always felt that our exhibition games gave off a bad vibe for those checking out a game for the first time and seeing like 800 people there.

I'm not saying they shouldn't have been there, but in my opinion, if you don't know what is going on, don't insist you do and continue to talk about it...it certainly distracts from the game. I'm not saying that freshmen or whatever shouldn't be there, it's exciting to fill the cell as much as we did, I just don't want to go through each game hearing things that don't even make sense. Didn't mean to upset everyone, just giving my opinion!

You know, if freshman are finally coming to UWM to watch basketball... I give them all the credit in the world for studying our depth chart. I'd rather see someone say that Chris Hill is a senior from Chicago than have someone go... "Who's that??"
Yesterday was awesome. By filling that place up as much as we did last night, for a game that didn't matter, it's obvious that this is a whole new ball of wax. I don't really think you can call it bandwagon jumping when it's an exhibition game... these are your new diehards. Welcome them!

I enjoy the new fans but was extremely annoyed with a cheerleader holding up the "hey" and "noise" signs and having some of the new fans just say hey and noise...and another thing...when the other team is shooting a freethrow move your arms "spirit fingers" are for the home team

Really, I liked the 'hey' 'noise' thing... It was different, kind of made me chuckle.
I will have to say the 'spirit fingers' thing while Parkside was at the North basket was odd.

It wasn't just the new fans chanting "HEY, NOISE"
I thought it was pretty funny during the first half. Obviously that's probably not going to be around by conference season. People were just being rowdy, I don't see what the problem with that is.

I think these are all solid observations about the game. Frankly, once the game got to 13-0, any remote suspense about the outcome (if there ever was any) was totally removed. It was more about getting comfortable with a system and returning players getting acquainted with newcomers. Parkside was understandably in well over its head. Folks, this is not something we could have said six or seven years ago.
