At the Half....
I have been disappointed with our play. We need a lot of work before the Memphis game...especially on D.
Why is Pancratz starting over YOUNG? Young hardly played, very disappointing.
UWM is up by 21 points, but not appearing like a squad that will be ready to take on a Top 25 team.
Later, UWMfreak

63-41, 7 minutes left. Not good. I did not expect much since it is the first game under the Jeter Era, but great improvement is needed.

Final 69-46.
Too low of a score. Lots of work ahead. But not too bad of a start. I demand more Young.
GO MILWAUKEE!
Later, UWMfreak ps. UIC lost to UW-Parkside last year. ;D

No doubt on the hook up for us out of towners. 4,161 according the MJS boxscore not to shabby for an exhibition game. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

OK, first lets understand exhibition basketball, it's not exactally set in stone that mccoy is gonna start, or that they won't use tyrone young more than they did tonight. Scores are gonna be lower, different coach, different style. Not to mention from seeing the game firsthand, the uwm guys weren't exactally out to kill tonight. i believe that they understood it was an exhibition game.
You could tell that the offense was looking to get a feel against some competition other than themselves on how they are gonna work this year. Jeter is a very poised man on the sideline, and I like the respect that he demands from his players, all while keeping the mood social with them.
Honestly, I believe that uwm is much deeper, and athletic this year than they were last. Jeter knows how to win, that will prove to be huge.
I know this was kind of a scattered post, but all in all, everyone needs to relax. 20 plus wins easily, post season tourney. Have a good night
GO PANTHERS!

after jumping all ove the Rangers the Panthers let up a lot, that is for sure, i do not think that the final score is any indication of how we are going to play our games this year, Joah was not his normal "I'm gonna take the ball jam it down your throat then rip it out of your gut" mode, and Boo really didn't get to do anythign til the second half, but man can Young dunk. Holy god that was one helluva dunk, Freak I am telling you, YOU MISSED IT!
If you look at the first 9 minutes of the game i think that is a better indication of what kind of team we have this year, not what happened in the second half. IMO the team came out with a fire and took it to Parkside and was already in control beofore Parkside had time to check their jock. but that is just me.............

Relax Freak. Jeter subbed freely and experimented with multiple lineups. Yes, this team is deeeeeep.
The student turnout was HUGE.

I agree, don't worry about the final score, for one thing Jeter went 12 deep in the first half. To me it looked like Jeter was more conerned that the guys actually ran the O. There were many times when messiah or young could have put the ball on the ground and blown past the guy guarding them, but they were committed to running the O. As a matter of fact, it looked like both guys like to go left towards the baseline and pull up. If they can both hit that midrange shot, watch out for this team.

Which reminds me ... I LOVE the new jerseys.
Subtle, yet great changes ... consistency in numbers and names on backs ... thinner numbers that are actually spaced properly ... and my favorite change: looks like very thin trim along the arms.
New warm-ups look good too.

I definately concur on the "running the offense" as an explanation of what they were doing. I have played in this offense for 6 years. I knew it when I was 6-7 years old and last night they ran it bare bones. There are many more things you can do with it. Is it that the players don't get it yet or is it that we just don't want to show our hand? I don't know either way. Jeter's inbounds plays looked very nice. I didn't care for our defense. Young needs to play more so I can yell Raytown!
Wow, where did we get all of these student fans? So many new faces. I guess admissions wasn't kidding when they said the big increase was due to our sweet 16 appearance. The problem is that soon they'll have to turn students away.
I'm pumped for our first real game as we'll be drawing big time. The day when I see the Cell jacked up for a non-televised, non-conference game is getting closer.

well, i'm pretty pleased with what i saw last night. number one, what a great fan turnout. last year we had around 1,800 for our first exhibition game... to draw well over 4,000 last night was one hell of an increase. the student section looked great. i wouldn't be at all concerned about turning students away though. the section has been increased dramatically this year so they'd have to draw well over 3,000 students to start turning them away. even then i think they'd find a way to get them in. as for the game, they definitely were working out some new looks on offense and defense. they could have buried UW-P by 40-plus had they been given the green light. Young, Massiah, and Anderson all show great potential. there's no doubt that Young will be an immediate impact player similar to what McCants was 2 years ago (if not better). a couple things that stuck out to me were their disciplined approach to the game, the hustle and effort level, and an obvious respect for coach Jeter. this team is deep and looks like they want success more than ever. that's great to see. i expect big things again this season. can't wait to see them improve as the year goes on. oh yeah, did i mention this team is ridiculously deep?!

I think the game was GREAT! No, we didn't go out and play like we did against Alabama, but we didn't need to, and I think the fact that we held back a little is very smart! I'm glad we saw a lot of playing time for a lot of the guys. Also, was it just me, or was Pancratz really hitting them last night...10 points! He rarely took a shot last year, that was good to see. About the student section, yeah, good turnout, however it was a LITTLE irritating to be surrounded by a lot of people who had no clue...for example, one insisted Adrian's last name was tiggert, and that Mark's name was Mike. Then there were the ones who obviously just studied the roster...example there: "That's Tigert, 6'7" from Ohkosh" we don't need a roster report throughout the whole game, you know.
Overall, I loved the game! Of course it was the first panther game this season, so we could have played much worse than we did, and I would still have just been happy to be there!
