You're weak sauby, not faith. You're jumping ship like the UIC and Butler fans when they had losing seasons this year. We lose star players year in and year out and still manage to progress to the top each season. Not to mention when Bo Ryan left. Can't blame him for leaving, those were some big figures being thrown out. Money talks, and in those quantities it will talk to all of us! Wait UIC didnt have a winning season, go blow yourself. Tell me who has jumped ship. You can come to our board and see all the same people who have been their since the start. Dont give me this b.s. that were not real fans. Everyone has stuck by their team the whole time, UIC fans, BU fans, and even now UWM fans.

Well look what was said:
"Thats shady.....classless...I am ashamed that I got to meet him.....it all came down to $$..... "
Did it all come down to money? Bruce outlined his reasons for leaving for Tennessee ... and money definitely wasn't only one of them.
I'm going to try to put an end to the bickering ...
Am I upset Bruce left? Yes.
Did it feel like someone punched me in the gut? Yes.
Did I see it coming? Yes, especially after UWM beat BC.
Do I appreciate everything he has done to get UWM to the level it is at? Yes.
Do I believe UWM can continue to grow? Yes.
The only thing I'm really upset at Bruce for is how quickly this happened, meaning the UWM community didn't have appropriate amount of time to celebrate this team. That what I'm disappointed with.
All in all, we ALL are frustrated ... some more than others. Someone earlier said what is needed is "closure." Unfortunately that won't come really soon, at least not until a new coach is named or until next season begins.
Nighthawk/sauby, I'm sorry for questioning your loyalty to UWM. Since we have a growing fanbase (especially here on the board), it's going to be tough to see who sticks and who stays.

I dont think theres anyone here that faults him for leaving. I certainly dont and even before he left i thought he would leave. I just wish that he and Tennesse could have waited one week to let this university enjoy what just happened. To let us have one last radio show, to celebrate with the players and the team. It just would have made the situation a lot easier to take.
I know hes going to be successful good luck to him now and in the future

The letter I wrote was sincere. And it was written when I thought he was sincere as well.
I heard over and over again from his own mouth how much he loved it here. How it would take a "blockbuster" offer to get him to leave. how he "dug in" and "put down roots" and "wasn't a nomad" and "didn't want to just climb the ladder".
When the time came, it didn't take a "blockbuster" offer. UT is a coach killer.
He certaily looks to me to be nomadic, now.
And the move, right, wrong or indifferent, was a move to "climb the ladder".
If he didn't mean what he said, then he shouldn't have said it that way.
In the best case scenario, he was clumsy in his handling and wording. In the worst case, he was lying.
I've said almost 1000 times by now, I don't fault him for making the move. I do fault him for not being more careful about the word he chose and the impression he was giving. I also fault him for not giving his team one day in the sun after the students returned. There is no good explaination for that. This could have all gone down on Tuesday and it wouldn't have hurt him in the least.
He get's his big day, but so do the kids who worked their ass off to make that big day happen for him.
That's gratitude for ya.

I agree ... and I get a sense that's what is causing a lot of frustration here. I'm assuming UT was pressuring him to make a decision quickly because they were worried about a couple of players transferring.

Do you want a medal or something that you know him?? Nighthawk and I are disagreeing with the fact that he left, but the way THAT he left....Do this, when you talk to "Bruce Pearl" like you say you are going to, ask him when he signed that Tennessee contract?? I would bet that he was signed, sealed and delievered sometime Sat or Sun.....then went on TV, and made up crap to cover the fact he was leaving the next day......I would jump ship fpr that kind of money also, but I would at least do it with some class and dignity thats for sure

Again, I think Bruce handled his PUBLIC comments perfectly. He never took anything away from the team, yet easily could have.

I don't know how you feel he "made up crap". I saw the show, and knew he would take it if it was offered. At least, it sure seemd that way to me.

That maybe true, but he could have chosen different words to say....and not have gone on all over National radio and TV and say all of that...."I could see myself retiring in Milwaukee....." blah blah blah...thats why I feel like I was being lead on

Ok this is the thought that i have had running through my head for a little while now........what Bruce did was he took the first chance at getting into a power conference at the D1 level.....fine i can understand that and i do not fault him for doing so, as well as taking the big paycheck.....But this is how i think things started out way back 4 years ago after listening to the press conference and the other remarks recently, first BP was black listed in a way from D1 after the whole Deon Thomas thing, other wise i am sure that he would have been at some other D1 school a lot sooner than he came to UWM, ok next he finally gets a chance to coach D1 at a small school in Wisconsin, a school that is trying to build itself up and out of the shadows of the other state programs, good fit and opprotunity for a guy from D2...........(now what i am going to say now is strickly my opinion and i have no factualy basis for it but i'm betting that there was a little bit of thought in this direction) BP comes herre gets his chance to prove himself so to speak, in the sense that he is not this vile creature that he have been made out to be (down UIC fans and U of I fans), and th better that he acts with the school, the students, the community the better he looks to everybody else around the globe of college basketball........ok now after realizing that it is going to take some bit of success being at the mid-major level he then goes after guys that are good players but that won't take long to develop I.E. many JUCO players (now that is in no way a knock on any of the guys that have come in and contributed in any way, nothing at all, I have the highest regrad for Ed, Boo, D-Ford, McCoy, and if you really want to get technical with the transfer thing Joah too, like i said if you want to get technical he did transfer here so.....) now he puts himself in a position to be recognized and then the more that he wins the higher and higher his stock rises until he gets to teh point where a team from any of the major conferences give him a look........it could have been soemone from the Big 12, Big-East, ACC, SEC, and PAC-10 (to a degree), ect.........now after getting noticed the idea to take whatever the first opprotunity is to get into one of theose conferences and then use that spot, being as it is mostly likely going to be a rebuilding project, to use it as a stepping stone as well.
now as i said this is purely just spectulation and just one person's opinion, and the way that i came up with this is that if you listen to what was said during the press conference here and at UT there are too many similarities to make it just be chance. now do not get me wrong this by now way means that Bruce "played" us or lied that he actually liked here, because i think he actually did liek it here, but in the same token he also knew just what he could do to better himself by doing all the right things here.
Do i fault him for taking a job that gives him a chance to be more successful in the long run......not at all.........what i do fault him on is what other peopel seem to be saying which is it was kind of like all of a sudden POOF he was gone, which also leads one to believe that he was the only decider in this choice.
Now take the post anyway you want but it is just what i think might have been going on. guess we will never know though.

I just have one thing to say about the show on Sunday night and how he handled it. I do think he should have given a little more emphasis on his consideration, but he was a dead give-away when he couldn't look at the camera like he normally does! I knew it Sunday night that this was it for milwaukee and Bruce!
