For me it comes down to this. BP feels he can win a National Championship at UT. He didn't think he could win one here. BP is a competitor with a huge ego. He wants to win - not Horizon League Championships but a National Championship. I wish him well and thank him for a great four years.
Yes, he could have handled it better over the last seven or so days. It hurts that UWM met his demands and then some and he still left. How many of you did Mrs. Pearl tell, "If they double his salary we are staying."? That's why I felt he was here until I checked out the board on Monday morning. UT might not be the "wow" job in our eyes but it is for BP and that is all that matters.

Yeah, Bruce sold out the Cell, but the Cell has been sold out before for a UWM game long Bruce ever got there for a game against UWGB. It wasn't the first time the Cell sold out and it won't be the last.
Anyone that's played competitive sports and has true heart recognizes this as an opportunity and a challenge for BP. You don't back down from challenges you think you can overcome. It's not solely about the money, (IMO) it's about coaching in a major conference, turning around a team with little to no basketball history and making them a competitive force in the league. What coach wouldn't want the opportunity to prove himself against the likes of Kentucky, LSU, Alabama, and Florida?
Get over it. Bruce did some great things here and left. (as most mid-major coaches do when the become the "hot item") Lets concentrate on the task at hand: getting another solid coach in here and win the league again, get back to the dance and try to do some more damage.

whats done is done, and now lets look towards the future.. it really sux taht bruce left but lets remember what he did for our program and thank him for the ride he brought us on. anyone in their right mind would have accepted the job. a better conference, more money... more oppertunities... c'mon now we all have to just live and let die. Bruce was great and he took the program further than any of us have ever seen. this is the life of a mid major. the bruce pearl era is dead and i am happy for him and sad for my team all at the same time. we still have a great team and we will find someone who would ove to take over the talent taht we have right now.; I just hope taht we can still grab some of the recruits that we were looking at for the future. GO PANTHERS !!!!!! if you dont want top cheer for them anymore please dont return to this board, it is not for band wagon fans, and it sure looks like there has been quite a few of them ever since the horizon league tourny started. just stop with the negative comments and lets look foward to the future.

Actually, this year's championship game was the first ever sellout of the Cell. The UWGB game in 1992-93 drew about 8,500 fans, well short of a sell out.

Perfectly said Nighthawk.....he is a liar....he taped his show on Sun night, and spewed all his lies on the air...he knew he was going to Tennessee then, yet couldnt be honest about it I did stay up and watch the BP show on Sunday, and I could definatly tell that Bruce was gone. If you actually listened to the way he talked about the team it was as if he was already gone. He would say " they will be good, they will do this or that" it was not "we will be a good team without Ed" or anything like that. I am upset that Bruce didn't stay for one last season, with his seven seniors. But I can't blame him for accepting a job in the SEC a big conference. He probably won't be there long, IMO he will have some type of success and move on to a power conference in the next five years. If that happens then I will be happy for him, if Tenn men's hoops can't even beat their womens team then I will gladly welcome Bruce back to Milwaukee! I think we need to think of who will coach our team next season and what type of style we will play?

Sauby, What's up with the constant negativity? Wrong path? I'm sorry, but if the wrong path is the sweet 16 then sign me up. You guys used each other. He provided your team a huge step in the right direction and many great memories. You provided him a place to hone his skills as position himself for a big-money job.

And just being at the games it was a great ride. You guys will have a great coach and the best dressed Ass. Coach Tony "Bannana Suit" (soon to be Orange Suit) Jones. Is there a Harleys down there?

sauby never said wrong path (unless he modified his statement). he took us places we've never been, and then took off. can you blame him? was it a bad decision? should he have stayed? I dont know the answers. all I know is that our head coach leaving for Tennessee overshadows our Sweet 16 run by a long shot. (did I mention that the Sweet 16 run ended only 4-5 days ago?)

I know. It totally sucks that you guys didn't get a chance to celebrate them returning with the coach that got them there. I would have liked to have seen UT and Pearl hold off a few days to allow the players that spent years with him to get to this point to at least celebrate and say their farewells. And nope, no Harley's. We have our share of men's stores down here. Bert's would be about the only one with a banana suit, though.
