It's always nice to play well on national TV. Great to see Tigert hitting the early shots before McCants was able to heat up. I also was impressed that Tigert didn't start forcing shots, he just took what was there. Tough first 3/4 of the game for Tucker, but he had a great effort at the end--couple of steals and offensive boards.
Couldn't have asked for a better effort tonight.

I know it's cliche...but great win tonight!
I'd say Tigert being hot on 3's was what sparked us tonight. Awesome dunk by McCants (even though it was his first points). It almost looked effortless...and left handed even! The turnovers to turnovers were enough to make a persons head spin! Luckily we came out full force from the start of the second half and held onto that lead for the most part (considering we dropped a 12 pt lead to 5). Couple of BAD calls by the refs, especially that foul on Hawaii that the replay showed the guy didn't touch anything as his hand came down!
On some humorous side notes:
The coaches looked cool in their "Hawaii" style apparel, except for the fact that sitting as a group they looked more like a men's bowling league.
The visual comparison of Pearl to Hawaii's coach was great. Pearl is vocal and active, while the Hawaii coach didn't leave his seat til the second half, and was sipping on cups of water. Hilarious, were they at the same game?
Good to know that the UWM Men's Basketball team "Support Staff" made it for the trip (the group of girls directly behind the bench who looked like they were ready for the club more than a UWM game, of course lacking any UWM Panthers apparel, or black/gold for that matter).
Nice look at the Hawaii fans who can really pack an arena! I wonder if it's really the only sports venue in Hawaii? Aside from U of Hawaii's football team and the NFL Pro Bowl. Interesting shots of a woman in what looked like a U of Hawaii Baseball jersey and boy with his gameboy!
I'm done for now...GO PANTHERS!!!

Oh yeah...and one last thing...it was a sure bet that Adrian and Pancratz would be the two most pale guys on the court tonight! ha ha! Was that an option on in Vegas?

It was a very good effort tonight for the Panthers. The announcers, while being very biased towards the Hawaii defense, didn't seem to recognize our great defensive play tonight especially on the boards.
I was just wondering if anyone else has the Time Warner cable box and got the post game analysis on ESPNews. It was awesome exposure for us. There was about a 5 minute interview session where the anchor on ESPNews asked questions to the two announcers from our game and then Valvano interviewed Pearl and McCants. Pearl said that at this point he thinks that we have an at-large bid if we were to lose in the Championship. It was really exciting just to see a main story that long about UWM, where we were brought in the limelight. Really brought to mind about how far Pearl has taken this program. Couldn't ask for a better night as far as UWM hoops go. Also, didn't anyone else see the spread about UWM basketball in the USA Today? I just heard about it during the post game analysis. Thank God for Bruce Pearl.

I wish I would have predicted the "down in the 1st half - go up by a bit at the half - start the 2nd half with a huge run - let it get too close for comfort - and then add some cushioning" outcome. Is it just me or should we stamp our name on that game plan and sell it by the case?
Once again I need to give props to ma man Hill, who drills his freethrows at the end of the game every time. Think of the outcome if we didn't have that stability in the last-minute foul game.
It's nice to see everyone hitting their 3's, but enough is enough! I don't want to have to rely on that to win games. Yes? no?
Go Band!

Bruce noted in the paper that this is a significant step for his team and their chance at an at large bid....He also noted that his team needed one more good road win to pushthem over the hump and this was it....I surehope he was right...10 road wins is pretty damn impressive however you look at it....Lets keep playing good ball.....
It will be a good time for rest for UWM...We have the whole week to relax and then off to CSU..Wont be a cupcake thats for sure...We will have another week off from there until we play in the semis of the tourney....We will have nice and fresh legs while other teams like UIC still have two or three more conference games left and could possibly have to play 3 games before playing UWM....6 games in a two week stretch is alot especially when the odds on favorite has two weeks to prepare and rest there legs late in the season....I like our chances

Panthereuph,
Shooting 3s has been UWMs offense for the last few years. Look at last year when Page McCants and even Tucker were shooting 3s all season. Its the style we play and it has worked for us. We proved we can win without the 3 ball against butler on wednesday going only 2-17 from behind the arch. Like i say "dont fix what aint broken" Good win last night great to see the team rally from starting out down. Exciting game overall.

Your team came out playing hard from beginning to the end last night. Hawaii had to adjust to the rough play that usually gets called in the whistle happy WAC. It was refreshing too see a much more physical game, it will also be good for us incase we get lucky and make it to post season play. The only ref that was killing me was the small little dude with the Johnny Neutron haircut. He kept talking with the UMW players as if he was their buddy from the playgrounds and called some unbelievably biased calls. Still no excuse for our loss, we didn't take care of business at home. Great Game! Wish us luck in the WAC tourney, which will be our only chance for the big dance. Good luck in the post season, hope we don’t run into you again if we do make it! BTW Nice Block!!!Mahalo, Scott www.sportshawaii.com"Hawaii's Fan Based Sports Page"

I saw the ESPN news ch. 115 right after the game with interview with pearl and mccants. After the interview the analysts at the game and the ones in the studio talked about UWM for about 4 more mins. Overall, the postgame extra on espn 115 was about 7-8 mins long. Great exposure. It doesnt even seem like this is the same team in the middle of the year, in terms of exposure. Front page sports of USA Today, ESPN 2, postgame ESPN news!!!

Generally, the Panthers are thought of more highly on a national basis than locally. Locally, the average sports Joe in southeast Wisconsin considers UWM basketball as being in a lower tier, behind the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, Badgers and Marquette. This is a perception that is gradually impoving, but will take at least one generation (i.e. 20 years) to evolve. On the national level, UWM basketball gets the benefit of a fresh start, without the bias that is based on past history.

the game was good. sweet sweet win. however, sometimes i just felt embarassed by all the turn overs. even though we hit our average to's it still felt like the players were not concentraiting. In the end though UWM showed the greater defensive stance by forcing 21 hawaian to's. Very impressive.
other notes that didnt make me happy about the game is mark pancratz. I understand why he plays he so much. But when hes in the game i just feel like he fouls too much or causes havoc. and not the good havoc. It really makes me nervous when mark comes in for tucker.
anyways, those are the only comments i have for the game that were bad. other wise i felt we played strong and on our own game. so go panthers.
