I hate to say it but...we're falling apart.
1. If we loose to both Manhattan and Cleveland State, will we make it to the NIT?
2. What the hell is going on? Dylan's foot does not give us this blow out.
I better not hear "f*** Marquette" or "We want Marquette" being chanted saturday...because believe me, we dont want that game right now. Concentrate on OUR team and the game, nothing else!
Disappointed, UWMfreak

Damn it! we played like absolute crap. We can still get a share of the conf. title with a UIC win but, i really don't want to root for UIC. We need to pull our sh*t together. I'm starting to get nervous.

About 60 minutes after suffering a 75-58 loss to Butler Wednesday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse, UWM learned UIC had beaten UW-Green Bay, giving the Panthers a share of the league title. UWM would win the outright title with a win in its final regular season league game Feb. 28 against Cleveland State. The Panthers have also clinched the number-one seed for the Horizon League Tournament for the first time in school history. "It's like a boxing match," UWM head coach Bruce Pearl said after he heard of Green Bay's loss to UIC. "We won the first 10 rounds (going 10-0 in league play to start the season) and have suffered some punches since. But we still won the decision." Mike Monserez scored 16 points, and Jamie Smalligan added 15 on 6-of-12 shooting for the Bulldogs (12-12, 7-7), who entered the game in sixth place in the league. Dylan Page had 18 points for the Panthers (17-8, 12-3), who were held to 26 percent shooting in the first half. Joah Tucker hit a pair of free throws with less than two minutes left to pull Wisconsin-Milwaukee to within 30-21 at halftime. "Who can't they beat?" Wisconsin-Milwaukee coach Bruce Pearl asked. The Bulldogs beat league champion UW-Milwaukee 75-58 Wednesday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse. They beat the champs with crisp ball movement, 15 3-point goals and relentless defense. The victory lifted the Bulldogs to 12-12 on the year and 7-7 in league play, while UWM fell to 17-8 overall and 12-3 in conference action. "This was probably as good an effort as we've had this year," said Butler head coach Todd Lickliter. "We really committed to the scouting report and how to defend and then doing it." Butler never trailed in the game, and Lickliter's squad led by as many as 19 points in the closing minutes. The 75 points were a season-high for the Bulldogs, who entered the game ranked last in the Horizon League in scoring offense. Hell you guys lost with the ref's on your side in our house!
Both technicals were rediculous.. The first was called on Smalligan after hitting a three.. he turned around and said something to whoever was defending him on the play.. it really wasn't much, and the ref called him on it.. I don't think people in the stands even knew what was happening, because it such a horrible call.
The second was called on Lightfoot, late in the game, when one of your guys, or actually several of them either fell into Monserez, or pushed him down after a basket was made.. I think it was Tucker (they were going at it all game, and several times, Tucker bumped or got into peoples faces) when lightfoot ran over to break up the ensuing scuffle, the ref called him for a Technical.. This is when Pearl and Lickliter got into it at half court..

Hinklepower,
What happened between Pearl and Lickliter? Horizon League Refs are bad...I think every school can agree on that.
It sounds like your guys are finally playing "Buter Basketball".
Thanks, UWMfreak

Check out our board on the link "UWM Game thoughts" I think someone explained the second Tech a little better.. I guess it wasn't Monz, but sheets who was pushed, and it apparantly was McCants.. They also said that Lightfoot deserved, it but was sticking up for sheets when he was surrounded by your players.. I dont know what the hell I was watching.. Whats up with McCants, and Mielke? Those guys were running around pushing, bumping, whining, and talking alot of smack the whole game?? Are they always like that? At the end of the game Ligtfoot and McCants were really jawing back and fourth.. McCants was actually yelling at him when they were in the lineup after the game... he sure seems suspect to me..

Well if the refs were on our side it'd be the first time all year. Hands down, we're not playing anything like we were during our streak and it's very dissapointing to be doing this at this time of the year. Butler crushed us, crappy refs or not, and we need to take whatever we've learned from the last two games if anything at all, and get our confidence and our swagger back by the tourney otherwise we'll be watching from our living rooms. I'm just trying to figure out when we got tentative on offense and let terrible offensive teams score mid 70's and 80's on us. Oh well, Saturday gives us a chance to get somewhat back in gear and then finish off hopefully with our last conference win. The only thing that counts now is what we do in the tournament. Let's go Panthers!!!

Hinkle...I would probably think that McCants was a little bitter that he wasn't on his game and somewhat frustrated...to be totally honest, Ed is a pretty quiet guy and I would guess that the rivalry and the fact you guys ran us out of the gym didn't help Ed from holding back if lightfoot was talking smack. I think it's naive to judge a player based from one basketball game though.

I'm not, but what I saw out of him and a couple of others tonight was pretty classless..
I dont know if you misunderstood me, but Lightfoot definitely was not talking smack.. I think it lingered on from the situation that caused the Technical between them, which started with McCants pushing Sheets..

Yah, I can't really say cause I didn't actually view the game. I listened to it on the radio. None of our players got technicals on their own though so anything they were doing couldn't have been too terrible. I'm sure our guys were playing physical but it didn't help.

I was there. Credit to Butler(that hurts!). I've never seen a 3-point shooting display like they put on in the second half. Shots were challenged. Of the 15 3's they made, I'd say maybe 3 were wide open. Milwaukee had a horrible offensive first half, but were much better in the second half. They would get close, then Butler would hit a 3. This is my concern. If they were playing like crap, I'd feel better. They haven't been outstanding the last few games, but they haven't been aweful. I thought the officials were actually OK last night. We need some BP magic, or it will all end soon. 35
