Steve, I can't speak for myself because I only met the man once, but I'll let other posters tell you what went through their mind when they saw Walt Waters.

I will say this: I'm not surprised to find this board silent.

I will say this: I'm not surprised to find this board silent. What's to say? This one hurts. It was too easy when 'they' were the one's doing it. Now it's one of our guys, and it's possible he did it with us too. No proof he did, and the Panthers shouldn't be thrown under the bus for what he's done at Knoxville, but it still is a tough pill to swallow.

No, not necessarily.
I believe that it's simply harder to cheat at a school like ours. In the SEC and at a place like Tennessee, cheating is as institutional as the checkerboard end zones.
And Pearl hasn't been "our" guy since 2004-05.

I will say this: I'm not surprised to find this board silent. Well those who knew a thing or two about his tenure here don't need to say much. It was really only a matter of time.

Who knows if he was breaking the rules at Milwaukee. It makes me feel a bit happy it's at Tennessee not Milwaukee. It gives me a bit more respect to Rob Jeter.

I always suspected Pearl of something, but I thought he was fudging grades. The team GPA took a ridiculous nosedive when Jeter took over as coach. I think there were something like eight players on academic probation at one point in 2007.

Pearl is a scapegoat? Really?
Look, he's a terrific college basketball coach -- salesman, strategist and motivator -- and he was the perfect fit for this program at the time he was here.
But let's not pretend that he's a paragon of virtue.
