Just wondering if Bruce Pearl and Co. have an eye on former Vincent standout and cousin of Boo Wade, Dejuante Wade. Dejuante is currently a 6'8" 280-pound power forward for Mid-State Tech in Wisconsin Rapids averaging over 25 ppg, 11 rpg and shooting 73% from the field, good enough to rank among the leaders in all of the division 3 juco ranks. Dejuante originally committed to UWGB two years ago, but "Coach K" got rid of him. See story: www.jsonline.com/sports/coll/sep02/72053.asp

Granted, that article's over 2 years old, but it sure sounds like the guy has a work ethic even worse than his cousin.
I have heard nothing regarding him though. Anyone else out there?

Why are you questioning Boo Wade's work ethic? Someone who played over 20 minutes a game as a freshman in the Big Ten and last year had a better assist to turn over ratio than Devin Harris. Yes he had off the court trouble but that has nothing to do with the way he played on the court. He was a good player for the Badgers.

You're right. Maybe "work ethic" wasn't the best choice of words. My concern with Boo Wade was his commitment to the program and to bettering himself as a player and person.
I don't know Boo Wade, and maybe the things I have heard aren't 100% true, but his reputation is not exactly stellar.

I think both Wade's would be a great fit for UWM.... Can't we give people a second chance??

Mid-State Tech's DeJuante Wade attracts Division I attention Posted by: Mark Miller Date: 06-01-2005
Former Milwaukee Vincent forward DeJuante Wade is beginning to attract recruiting attention from NCAA Division I schools.
Now competing for Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids, the 6-foot-7, 280-pound Wade is hearing regularly from Purdue University, according to Mid-State coach Randy Casey.
"Purdue called yesterday and has sent several letters as well," Casey said. "DeJuante's a unique player because he has soft hands and can step outside and shoot the three-point shot. He's also quite agile for a kid his size."
Wade received a scholarship from former UW-Green Bay coach Mike Hedieman, but he never played for the Phoenix. He spent one year attending school at Green Bay before opting to transfer to Mid-State Tech.
He resumed his basketball career last season and earned NJCAA Division III honorable mention All- American honors after averaging 25 points and 10 rebounds per game during the 2004-05 season.
"DeJuante's receiving interest from across the board -- Division I, Division II and NAIA schools," Casey said. "The big question with DeJuante will be his academic standing. He has improved and will be eligible for us next season, but he needs to continue to work hard in the classroom."
Wade and Nekoosa graduate Dan DeMars figure to be the leaders for the Cougars next season. Wade earned Player of the Year honors in the Wisconsin Technical College Conference (WTCC) while DeMars was chosen second-team all-conference.

As a teammate of Dejuante's this past season, I can he's the real deal. His game has improved tremendously and he's starting to turn his academic career around as well.
To the question above, MSTC didn't have a girls team this past season because no recruiting was done and not enough players were available to make a team.
