The Brewers acquired right-hander Tomo Ohka from the Nationals on Friday in exchange for second baseman Junior Spivey. Ohka, who was scheduled to start Friday night's contest against Seattle, was 4-3 with a 3.33 ERA in 10 games for the Nationals this season.
Looks like this opens up a spot for JJ Hardy to play SS, and Bill Hall to start at 2B. That is unless Ricky Weeks gets called up.
I wasn't to thrilled when I first heard about it, but the way the brewers have been trading lately, its hard to believe this wasn't good for the Brew Crew.

it is a good trade for the brewers because it opens up an oppurtunity for Weeks to come up from AAA where he is absolutlety dominating....as much as i liked Spivey, Weeks is the future of the Brew Crew

Fielder at 1st, Weeks at 2nd, Hardy at SS, Hall at 3rd ... that's going to be a nice infield starting lineup next year.
Bill Hall deserves to be playing a good majority now ... third seems the logical choice for now, until Braun accelerates to the bigs.

Trade Jenkins to open up a spot for Krynzel in center, move Clark back to right. Trade Overbay because his stock may not get any higher than it is now ... could do both of these before the trading deadline and I would be happy.
In the offseason, Brewers will need to focus on getting a better catcher offensively. Call up Corey Hart, hold on to Cirillo for now, dump Helms and trade Branyan (strikeout bug is still a problem). Plus another established veteran starter would be a good signing.
It's fun to see these guys come up to the bigs now, giving the Brewers depth and options.

Trading jenkins and overbay are the obvious sentiments of most brewer fans but what can you get for them and who in the world would want jenkins? I think to perform this minor miracle, you have to package them. the team and player that would fit: Mike Cameron NYM
They need Overbay. Cameron could play center for us and if we're gonna overpay someone lets get someone who can help us.

They don't need Overbay. They've touted Prince Fielder as the future at 1B. I believe it would be foolish for management to opt for Overbay over Fielder.
Don't get me wrong ... I like Overbay a lot. I just don't think he can be a difference-maker like Fielder has the potential to be.
