This year’s team is simultaneously capable of losing two of three games to franchises like Miami and Pittsburgh and sweeping the Braves while out scoring them 34-12. Will the real Brewers stand up by season’s end? See my post of July 28. The Braves are in a down cycle right now. Did you see Jorge Soler in right field? He's horrible. The Braves made a mistake this trade deadline by trying to re-create the magic they did at the trade deadline in 2021. There is no such magic for them in 2024. The Brewers caught the Braves at the right time.

I’m not sure we can catch the Phillies, but a bye into the division round is looking quite gettable. Granted since the playoffs expanded to 12, both NL pennant winners have been 6 seeds In other words Nick, the Brewers can hopefully at least finish ahead of whichever team wins the NL West. They go head to head four times next week at Am Fam Field with the current frontrunner, the Dodgers, which currently has a one half game advantage. Should be interesting.

Wel at least there’s one thing 29 teams can hang their hats on this year: at least they aren’t the White Sox, who are on pace to win under 40 games. In a 162 game season. The last time a team was this wretched Casey Stengel made the mistake of turning 70.

I hope none of us ever have to experience what it is like to be a White Sox fan.

Yelich needs to get his back issues behind him (pun intended).

Brewers are 70-52 after taking the opener from Cleveland and sit a cool 10 games up in the division. Yeah there’s 40 games left but short of going something like 10-30 to finish up the Brewers are extremely likely to be in the playoffs Only questions left are seeding- can they get the 2 seed and the bye?- and opponent- I’d rather not see Atlanta or Arizona again , thank you very much

Here's another way of viewing things: the Brewers could still EASILY snag the No. 1 seed!

Only being 1 game back , it’s well within the realm of possibility. We’re done with the Dodgers and still have 3 more with Phillies. If we sweep that, we’ll split the head to head and then it’s all about holding serve the rest of the way while keeping an eye on the scoreboard. Padres and Dbacks are making it interesting in that division so there’s a bunch still to be settle. There’s no 110+ win juggernaut this year like the 98 Yanks or 2001 Mariners, the postseason will be wide open. There are no givens this year in baseball- well except that the Whote Sox are going to lose at least 115 games if not join the 62 Mets 1916 Philadelphia As and 1899 Cleveland Spiders in baseball infamy( As only won 23.5 percent of their games, Mets lost 120 and the Spiders 134)
