Just heard the game was over. Gee, the pitch clock is great! It's 3:27. The game was only 2 hours and 45 minutes despite a combined 26 baserunners leading to 13 runs! A game like this would have been 3.5+ hours in the last few years. Last night's nine run game was 2 hours and 17 minutes! It's all great. The clock, the throw-to-first base limitation, the step-out-of-the box limitation, shorter breaks between innings. It feels more like watching a video game compared with the game of past seasons. The elimination of the shift and the larger bases are an improvement also. After years of just talking about improving the game for the Joe and Jane Fan, it has finally happened! It sounds like the players like it too.

So who went to the game today? I'm looking forward to hearing comments about the sound system (pun not intended when I first wrote this). Mark Antanasio said on the TV broadcast that they have a whole new in-game production crew. The timing and type of music they have played in the past has been quite stale. I hope they have significantly improved this aspect of the fan experience. Still hoping to hear comments about the new sound system at Am Fam Field. When watching on TV, I hear the same old tired music during mound visits, ancient songs like "Living on a Prayer," etc. Apparently the game day production changes are more video than audio related. That's too bad. Ballparks like Dodger Stadium and Petco Park sound much, much better, which in turn generates more enthusiasm within the crowd.

More regarding time of games under the new rules...
Nine MLB games were played this afternoon. All nine were less than three hours. The Brewers' game, which was completed in 2:45, was the third longest, including one extra inning game.
Wow.

Considering that the Crew is 5-1 after six games in which I didn't watch a single inning, and how often my cheering for a team becomes the kiss of death, I am thinking I should not watch any Brewers games until the post season 😄

You've got it wrong skrapheap. The postseason would be the worst time for you to watch. Please spare us this time.🫣

off to a very good start, but as we saw last year, every game counts, and thanks to there beibg no game 163- a decision they should revere imo, as it is an integral part of baseball's history and makes the September races so mnuch fun- theres no fallback if you slip up.

The Brewers will now let you buy alcohol after the seventh inning JR Radcliffe Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Traditionally, the seventh inning is last call for beer sales at Major League Baseball games, but the Milwaukee Brewers are trying out a later deadline with games moving faster than ever before.
Adam McCalvy of MLB.com confirmed with Brewers president of business operations Rick Schlesinger that the Brewers are experimenting with a cutoff at the end of the eighth inning for alcohol sales inside American Family Field. The policy was quietly in place for the final two games of the season-opening seires against the Mets.
“This is (reflective) of the fact that the games are shorter," Schlesinger told McCalvy. "From a time perspective, we're probably looking at selling beer for the same amount of time by extending to the eighth inning that we did last year through the seventh,” Schlesinger said.
“Obviously, the safety and the conduct of our fans has primacy. We've had no issues, but it's a small sample size and we're going to continue to test it and see if it makes sense. I know a number of other teams are doing the same thing.”
Heading into Friday, the average time of game was 2 hours and 38 minutes, a dramatic decrease from the 3:06 average of last year. It's the first time games are clocking in at under 3 hours since 2015 and the fastest average time since 1984.
That's of course thanks to the pitch timer aggressively limiting time between pitches to 15 seconds with nobody on base and 20 seconds with runners on.
There is no rule that requires baseball teams to cut off alcohol sales at any point, but teams have customarily used the seventh inning as the appropriate time in anticipation of fans leaving the park.
McCalvy said if the experiment proves to spike alcohol-related misbheavior, the Brewers could alter the policy, according to Schlesinger.
Baseball America and other outlets have explored whether or not a faster game leads to fewer concession sales and found very limited impact in the minor leagues, where the pitch timer has been in effect since 2015.

Through nine games the Crew has the second best record (behind Tampa Bay's 9-0 start) and the second best run differential (+25 to the Rays +57).
In both losses, the Brewers were shut out. They have already pitched three shutouts.
Not a bad start to the season.

After being shut out in the series opener, the Brewers are up 6-0 after eight innings. Corbin Burnes is dealing tonight, after taking his lumps in his first outings of the season. Burnes has struck out eight so far.

Wade Miley throws seven shutout innings, striking out eight.
Devin Williams loads the bases before getting the third out in the ninth.
Brewers get the only run of the game on a sac fly, and take the series.

Outstanding game yesterday for those of us who like pitching duels. Garrett Mitchell joins Wade Miley as my co-players of the game. Mitchell did something we have been clamoring for when the team has nothing going at the plate. He bunted! After he reached base, his reputation as a speedster forced Yu Darvish to commit a bulk (yes, that was a bulk under the new rules). Mitchell then stole third and scored on a sac fly. Without Mitchell in that inning, the Brewers may have wasted the strong pitching effort

That was quite a road trip. 7-3.
The Crew's record us tied with Atlanta for the second best in MLB. Their run differential is third best in MLB. Put that together with a top three team ERA, and that's a winning formula if they can sustain it.
