Why don't they just keep the travel partner concept and go back in time to alternating weekends home and away?!

Whatever makes sense to the student athletes, and is the most environmentally/fiscally responsible. That should be the method used regardless of what’s “fair” from a competitive perspective.
Can you imagine the big 10 trying to figure this out in the coming years ? Already it’s a joke for “student athletes” (said in my Cartman voice) to travel in that league. Imagine flying from LA to Rutgers on a Thursday night for a basketball game. What a joke. Not to mention, how wasteful can we get ?

From what I gather this is to get on ESPN2 and ESPNU more often.

I hope we don't get Sunday afternoon games. That has been an attendance nightmare.

I hope we don't get Sunday afternoon games. That has been an attendance nightmare. Would the tradeoff of being on ESPN help that out? Is a Thursday-Saturday better than Friday-Sunday?

There has been 2 or 3 different games on the Friday/Sunday schedule this year many times with only 1 game landing on ESPNU or ESPN2. It's only worth playing on Sunday if you are a lock to gave a TV game on a Friday. Thursday and Saturday is better for attendance.

Or Wednesday and Saturday. The WAC has been trending in this direction.

I was trying to find the tweet I saw last night, but what about the idea of the league potentially mandating teams schedule Q1/Q2 buy games.
I think, regardless win/loss it boosts the league overall.

It was by Jerrod Calhoun of YSU. He said the league is mandating FOUR Quad 1/2 buy games every year!

It was by Jerrod Calhoun of YSU. He said the league is mandating FOUR Quad 1/2 buy games every year! That would be quite a development if it’s implemented. Would it be based on an average of previous seasons or strictly Q1/Q2 from the prior season? It’d be harder to schedule ahead if you had to go off-season by off-season.

If they think this is going to result in better scheduling and a stronger conference, let's do it. I want to be in a better conference, and the easiest way for that to happen is for the Horizon League to get better.
