NKU wins it. Another year with a weaker seeded champion.
Hopefully they get a First Four game and get a win. I’m thinking they might be a little too high for the First Four, though.

Seems like they will be safe from a 16 play in. Better than Fairleigh Dickinson, SWAC winner, Southland winner, SEMO, MEAC winner, possible upset team in another conference.

The neutral site is doing more harm than good as demonstrated by the attendance yesterday. I just don’t get it. The league is bringing in far more money from broadcast deals and corporate sponsorships than from ticket revenue. There is little reason to set the tournament up to encourage attendance when ESPN and Barbasol are willing to pay as much as they do. Even if that money is on the low end of the scale, it's more than what the league could expect to get from ticket sales. If the league were more highly ranked, things might be a little different. How much does the league get when a team wins a tournament game? Or two? I’m more concerned about that than the ticket sales. Maybe it’s not as much as I think. But you’d think a conference would benefit financially more from the trickle down effect of teams from the HL actually doing well in March. Having experienced Indy for the first time yesterday, the game atmosphere sucks. And not just because we sucked.

While the seeding implies this, the truth of the matter is, the top four teams in the conference were within a game of each other conference-wise, and two through four had comparable overall records. In fact, Northern Kentucky rated higher than us and CSU in a number of the rankings/ratings. Once it got to five seed Oakland is where you see the real dropoff.

This was a classic case of "been there, done that." This makes four titles in seven years for NKU. It's not an accident. Coaching matters in college hoops. So does rabid fan following.
