We're rapidly approaching the 20-year anniversary of our first D-1 NCAA Tournament team (good God!). What are your favorite memories of our breakthrough team?

I posted this in another thread but it fits better here.
Clay Tucker was interviewed on a Panthers radio broadcast recently. It starts at 1:13:15 on the full Wright State game stream. Listen to The Roar with @tunein tun.in/pkNlN
Clay did state he is coming back to Milwaukee later this season for a 20 year reunion of the first HLT championship team. He said he also plans to go to Indy for the HLT if the Panthers make it there.

I'm pretty sure it was a night game vs Notre Dame.
Are you confusing the Alabama or Oklahoma games? Those were both I believe 11:25 tip offs.

It was indeed a night game - the early evening game I believe. I was flying home from LAX. Saw up to halftime and had to check the score upon landing in Denver to see how it ended - only to be gutted.

i was at the game in indy. my dad drove us down to Indy , trying to avoid the never ending war coverage on the radio at the time. Notre dame was the opponent and my brother was a junior at ND at the time so he and i joked it was another ' big bro-little bro' showdown. I was a freshman at UWM at the time. the missed layup at the end was gutting. if he had tried to dunk it would have been successful . we would have faced Illinois in round 2 if we had won, which would have been a winnable game, Notre Dame beat them by 8 en route to the Sweet 16.

I recall being at the airport on the way back from Spring Training and a Notre Dame alumnus and I got into a discussion (I love the football program; my dad did his doctoral work there after getting his Master's at Madison) and he said, "Well, I'll bet you guys will take the air out of the ball and it'll be 48-46." Uh, no. You have us confused with someone else!

Even though we lost, that game was when I officially decided to enroll at UWM. One of the best decisions I ever made. I’m so excited for the current batch of students like ghostofPBJ who get to experience quality d1 basketball like we did in the mid 2000’s.

I must have been playing playstation during the Notre Dame game. Alabama was the one I watched in the cafeteria, I was in the Gasthaus for Oakland, and in the stands for Villanova. I watched the Boston College game with my dad at BW3's in West Allis ("No way UWM goes to the Sweet 16" says my old man at tip-off), the Illinois game with a bunch of friends who were all going to UWM in my buddy's basement, and the Florida game from Overtime Sports Bar in Myrtle Beach. I really wish I hadn't gone to Myrtle Beach and instead went to Jacksonville. I still cant find the Milwaukee/ND game anywhere on the web. I'd love to be able to watch it again. If dkelly doesn't have it, no one does.

Thanks'97. That's the first time I've ever seen the video or heard Gus Johnson's call. After seeing it in person, I guess was too heartbroken to watch it until now.

Most teams today frankly wouldn't play the end of the game that way. Even at that time, it was fairly unusual. As Clay held the ball on his hip and my heart was beating through my chest, I thought to myself, "We're not the underdog in this game!"
