Great win. Defense was great, and we limited our turnovers. We got 5 votes in the last mid major top 25. I suspect we will have much more next week.

Good God, coaching matters so much…… Bart's been both a breath of fresh air, and a dousing of ice water, for this program.

If we play with this defensive intensity consistently for the rest of the conference schedule, we're going to be quite tough. Good God, coaching matters so much…… Someone that used to post around here quite a bit disagreed heartily with your statement. I've always disagreed with his assessment and agreed with yours.

Jimmy, it may be time to reactivate the "Black N Gold Club". Get some shirts, plan some outings, hit up a road game, daydream about Indy, etc. The possibilities are endless if you have a program that appears to be in good and capable hands. It's been awhile.

It appears that our next game is actually a HOME game, but that can't be!

Blast social media, talk to anybody who's anybody in Milwaukee, see if we can get 2,000-3,000 at least.

UWM is alone in first for the first time since 2012, and their coach is calling for more fans to see it for themselves Curt Hogg Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Bart Lundy has UWM off to a start of 11-5 overall and 5-1 in Horizon League play this season. Stacking good days has been the motto for UW-Milwaukee under first-year head coach Bart Lundy.
This week, the Panthers stacked great ones and, because of it, are alone in first place in the Horizon League for the first time in over a decade.
The Panthers knocked off a defending conference co-champion for the second time in three days by taking down Purdue-Fort Wayne, 74-70, on the road Saturday. Just over 36 hours earlier, UWM won a thriller over Cleveland State to pull into a tie for first place in the conference at 4-1.
With Northern Kentucky, also 4-1, not playing Saturday it gave the Panthers a chance to seize solo possession of first place for the first time since January 2012.
Kentrell Pullian made sure they did just that. Pullian scored a team-high 19 points, his fourth time scoring at least 18 in the last seven games, and the Panthers nearly led wire-to-wire to defeat the Mastodons for the first time since they joined the Horizon in the 2020-21 season.
UWM surpassed its win total from last season in moving to 11-5. It improved to 4-1 on the road in conference play.
From playing in hostile environments at Purdue and Iowa State early to downing last season’s co-Horizon champions in succession, the Panthers have been battle-tested on the road. They’ve passed the test so far.
“The team that wakes up the best plays the best,” Lundy said. “That was true last weekend and I thought it was true this weekend again. We had great preparation, great shootaround and came out ready to play and win.”
BJ Freeman followed up his big effort against Cleveland State with 15 points off the bench Saturday, including a three with two minutes remaining that stretched the lead to nine points just as the Mastodons were clawing back. Markeith Browning added 14 points for the Panthers.
Moses Bol, who entered with just six points in conference play, provided Lundy with critical minutes off the bench, scoring a career-high seven points in the first half and also blocking two shots.
“He was awesome,” Lundy said. “He’s been playing really well in practice and affects the game in a lot of ways. The scoring is a bonus. We’ve seen him put in the basket when he gets the ball around the rim and he always hits his free throws. Everyone on this team thinks that he can give us good minutes when he’s out there and that’s what he did today.”
Fort Wayne didn’t lead after it held a 5-4 advantage in the first half and trailed by double digits for much of the second half. UWM successfully played the game at its preferred tempo and strung together another excellent defensive effort, as has become common in its win. The Panthers held the Mastodons to 38.7% shooting to buoy their own struggles from three-point range (7 of 25) and on the defensive glass (12 offensive rebounds for 13 second-chance points for Fort Wayne).
In their two wins in the past week, the Panthers held opponents to just 35.6% shooting and won the turnover margin each time.
“To me, it’s effort and attention to detail,” Lundy said of his team’s defense. “Our assistant coaches do a great job preparing our team and coming up with solutions on how to win. It’s up to the guys to listen and play up to a level that they can.”
The Panthers now enter a stretch of the schedule heavy on home games after playing five of their first six conference games away from Milwaukee. The next four games and seven of the next 10 will be at the UWM Panther Arena.
Lundy called for Panthers fans to come out and support their first-place team in the midst of an impressive turnaround campaign.
“I wasn’t here last year or in past years, so I can’t speak to that,” Lundy said. “But I know that this group’s got the ability to win games, win games on the road and be a really good Horizon League team. Hopefully, the fans notice and give these guys more support when we’re back home.
“That’s been lacking and I’d like to see the alumni, the city, the fans get behind this team. They work exceptionally hard behind the scenes and are putting a good product on the court.”

It got a little ugly in the final minute between the stupid technical fouls, the stupid foul far away from the basket, and the missed free throws, but another really solid win on the road against a top half of the league team. You beat me to the punch. Solid win indeed. How about those FIRST PLACE PANTHERS! The sloppy last couple of minutes should serve as a learning opportunity for the players. It seemed to start with BJ's dagger gesture with about two minutes to go. The three attempt by Rand after an offensive rebound was not smart. The technical against Browning was ill advised. The reach in foul at the top of the key by Thomas unnecessarily stopped the clock. Had Fort Wayne made more of it's shots down the stretch the big late lead could have been blown. The players need to understand the opponent is playing desperate and cannot let their guard down. Now that the Panthers are clearly contenders, they have to learn how to sustain success. It is part of the winning process. Bart Lundy will clean these things up. Learning opportunities like these often come after losses. It is nice to have them come in a road win.

Yeah, I wasnt too enthused with the throat slash. Tbh, I'm surprised the refs let that slide. I'm definitely not get off my lawn guy, but didnt feel like that was necessary at all.
