I would like to know more about two things that were not evident on TV: 1. The Cardinal Stritch student section - Why did they impress? How many students? Where were they seated? Did they have any student section leaders? Is there anything they did could be learned to improve our student section? 2. What is the arena change below everyone's feet that PNP teased us about? There were probably 25-30 of them in Section 223 behind the CSU bench but closer to mid court. They were seated during the game but would stand up and cheer every time they made a shot or a big play. Despite being down by 60. I might have missed some specifics but I’d say the one thing that could be learned is giving a crap about the game. And having pride in where they go to school. Seemed like there was 1 guy there who would start all their chants and get everyone to join. In regards to the arena change, I believe the floor in the hallways was replaced. It used to be that gray tile with the yellow, red and blue designs. The new floor is updated where it looks like that epoxy type flooring with the little flakes in it. Looks much better!

So they brought back Wayne Larivee to work solo on the TV games. I assume he will do this again all season for arena games that do not conflict with his Packer schedule. I am disappointed about this. Nothing against Larivee, but I would rather listen to a simulcast of Scott Warras' radio call. Better yet, use whatever Larivee is being paid to pay a good analyst like a Joah Tucker to join Warras on the simulcast. That would enhance both productions much more than the status quo.
The video production was OK given limited resources, but I think it still lags behind the others in the HL. At the very beginning Larivee's recorded intro had to be cut short because the game tipped off. Obviously there was no coordination between game and video production. Graphics and crowd sounds are minimal.
I'm thrilled to be able to watch every game. But again, the other HL teams seem to do it better.

Thanks for the reply PantherNation! FYI, while you were responding, I added a third inquiry about the post game experience. Glad to know about the floor upgrade. I know the old vinyl tiles were installed less than 20 years ago, but they reminded me of a basement rec room from the sixties. In addition to looking better and more up-to-date is probably less slippery and therefore safer. So Cardinal Stritch students get to sit along the sidelines behind their team's bench and ours get stuck on the baseline behind a basket. I realize Stritch students had to pay (at a discounted group rate?), but isn't it obvious MKE students should get better placement as well? It is not like there isn't room. Maybe by being closer to the team and action it is easier for them to care about the game. It is hard to force school spirit into a group of students, but at least treat them special so they can develop pride as a student section. As for that one guy who got everyone else going, there has got to be some students with such leadership abilities at MKE. Pay them if necessary to ensure their presence. This "job" gives them something extra to put on their resume under the leadership category. Treat them like season ticket holders and attract more students with leadership ability and dare I say - higher attention spans.

Yes, the one guy (perhaps a senior) would motion over to Willie the Wolf to station himself in front of the group of 30 or so and get something going. My guess is that he figured they would be more responsive to the team mascot. They did the roller coaster at halftime and all kinds of fan-friendly activities. They were thoroughly into the game even though it was a demolition.

The student section needs a few leaders badly. The handful of Stritch students were louder than our much larger section. Credit to the band for at least getting some chants going. Otherwise it was pretty quiet for a team that scored 112 points.

I'm seeing a series of great posts here. The dormancy of our student body needs to have a light shined on it. The program's going nowhere without a massive upgrade.

I had my 3 year old daughter with me so unfortunately there was no Goolsby’s postgame this time. But I heard from others Lundy was there and interacted with the fans. Jimmy can speak more to it but said it was a great postgame experience at Goolsby’s. I’d have to think the student section will only improve as the team does. Will it be this year? Probably not. But I’m hoping in the next 2-3 years we’ll see some leaders step up and take it over to make it a true student experience for everyone. We just need some excitement back into the program to get the students engaged again. That usually comes with success. I’d have to think there are students living on campus who were a part of some high school gyms that showed some energy. Where do all those kids go? Besides Cardinal Stritch apparently…

As someone who goes to every game and knows more about the game than 99% of our student body, I have no desire to lead a bunch of casuals who only come to the game for free food/shirts.

1, Winning is a great deodorant, but it's not a panacea.
2, Let's focus on being inclusive, not exclusive. I was at last year's Senior Night and first-round league tournament game and they were very "exclusive."

I would like to know more about three things that were not evident on TV: 1. The Cardinal Stritch student section - Why did they impress? How many students? Where were they seated? Did they have any student section leaders? Is there anything they did could be learned to improve our student section? 2. What is the arena change below everyone's feet that PNP teased us about? 3. How was the post game experience? Did Bart Lundy and his staff mingle with fans at Goolsby's? Did anyone pick up on any interesting tidbits that can be shared here? To answer #3 Cactus, Goolsby's had the best atmosphere after the game in 6 years. The crowd cheered the team when they came in the door, and when Coach and his assistants got there they worked the crowd. My son and I were sitting with Jimmy and Ken, and he came over to us right away. It was our first time meeting him, but he knew Jimmy and Ken already. Very festive atmosphere and a breath of fresh air compared to the mortuary Goolsby's was during the Fraudwin era.

Add some cute Pouncettes to assist 😉. Plan and coordinate this effort with the cheerleaders and band.

Yes, the awful looking vinyl floor with arrow colors from woodstock is gone. The original terrazzo floors are back in the concourse. Just a better look. Yes, less slippery as well. It's shocking as humans what we don't notice.
I thought the students were solid in the 1st half. I was shocked they stood up. They sat at the KC. Had the clap and sprit fingers going when the Panthers were at the foul line. Other than that, energy lacked.

People dont need to know basketball to chant "defense" "U-W-M" "Let's Go Panthers". Thank you and AMEN!!!!! You guys are being FAR too optimistic when we are talking about a group of people who barely want to be there anyway. It’s just a lot to ask of people who come for the free stuff and nothing else.
