after rereading that 2014 thread, in which I appeared a few times, it just shows that however bad we thought that loss was (it was terrible, don't get me wrong), and how bad our then -ranking in the metrics was(180-something in one,220-something in another) I doubt anyone on the board could have imagined that 8 years later we would be far far worse- deep into the 300s-, and bad losses like that would become almost expected. as for Coach Lundy, he's a desperately needed clean slate. I don't know how successful he'll be, but doing better than Baldwin's 56-92 is an EXTREMELY low bar to clear. I'm not asking for 20-25 wins in year 1, just showing that he can make adjustments in game, is transparent when punishing kids for infractions, and improves as a coach from year to year.

Ok, I will chime in on Fran's post.
!) Nothing he said isn't true 2) Keep in mind that Fran said he's hopeful that Coach Lundy will be successful.
I don't recall Fran saying he's hoping for good things in this program in quite some time. It seems that Coach Lundy is having a positive effect on people.

Not true Bill. I always hope. I also never allow hope to interfere with seeing reality. Since well before 2016 — even before our current AD began her tenure — I saw that we were potentially heading towards disaster. Jeter’s firing was merely the most spectacular and obvious step towards that disaster, made all the more frustrating by the fact that it seemed so clearly undertaken to prevent impending success. What followed was completely predictable. In fact, I predicted it, right here, by remarking that people should be careful what they wished for. But the “perspective” of too many folks was sadly limited. They got rid of a coach they didn’t appreciate and rejoiced, not seeing that it was actually just one step in many of the deconstruction of the program. All those things together meant that the next two coaches were truly set up to fail.
Will Lundy succeed? I hope so, as I say repeatedly. Do I expect it? Tell me what has fundamentally changed that should induce us to expect it. And some advice on that: before answering wait until the honeymoon is over to see if the SAME administrators have profoundly changed their behavior — or instead merely (and probably predictably) reverted to the uninterest, neglect and worse that we have observed over the last decade. I will certainly do so. Because otherwise, the hope for success falls squarely and ENTIRELY on Lundy. I just don’t believe that can work. Success in a flagship program requires continued commitment and competence from the top down. Do we have it?
