Honestly. She is saying the right things to the media.
Things we've been tweeting and ranting about.
But do we trust her? Should we trust her?

First thought: she's accepted no responsibility for our present fate.
Second thought: she figures to be here for a LONG time.
Third thought: Oh, God! Why?!

These are LITERALLY lowest bar comments. Any high school AD would know to say the same things. We already KNOW from 9 YEARS of her tenure that she's all talk, no substance. Coming from her this is just fulsome noise. And we have heard it before. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result!
CHANCELLOR MONE, do you ACTUALLY need MORE proof that she's NOT the right person to conduct this hiring or run this department?
To quote Vince Lombardi, what the hell is going on over there!!??

First thought: she's accepted no responsibility for our present fate. Exactly! NO ACCOUNTABILITY!!!!! All these comments are directed at the coach, as though that's the problem. That's the SYMPTOM!

"UWM is not considering leaving the Division I level, which is something that some observers have bandied about in the past.
"I have not had conversations about that with anyone," Braun said."
OBJECTION! NON-RESPONSIVE ANSWER!

She could have at least said she was sorry on behalf of the Athletic Department for being part of "that reason to be frustrated". She sounds more like a UWM PR person than an Athletic Director.
Part of the most futile and uninspired Panther basketball teams and coaches of all time. That's not just some random, uncontrollable "reason to be frustrated".
Accountability is in short supply for sure.

By the way: this is a public University. We recently learned that PBS was given a one year extension. Now, in order to look like she's doing something, AB has fired him before that year. We deserve an accounting of where the money is coming from to once again pay a former coach hundreds of thousands AND a new coach (presumably) hundreds of thousands when we can't even sell any tickets. This is the SECOND time she has done this, BOTH because of her incompetence in recognizing coaching quality. Imagine the financial pressure this puts on EVERYTHING in Milwaukee athletics.
Bluntly I wonder whether she didn't do this preemptively knowing that it would soak up any money that could be used to buy HER out.

I like what she’s saying, but have little faith in her. But her decisions and the decisions of those above her are out of our hands, so I hope she proves us wrong this time.

If Mone was interested in athletics, Braun would have been let go a long time ago. Mone has shown time and again he's not interested in athletics. It's unfortunate that the UW System Board of Regents appointed Mone as the chancellor and they're not holding him accountable.

She won't. In fact, all she's done is construct a perfect scenario for more years of no accountability. Naturally, any new coach will need at least three or four years to raise the program from its abject demolition to title contention and NCAA bids, right? So whatever failure or mediocrity occurs during that period is simply to be expected. Not her problem!

My favorite AB comment is about the desire to hire a coach with proven success. I have been begging for this since the day Pearl resigned. I would feel much better about this though if she would emphasize a desire to hire a HEAD coach with proven success.

I would feel much better about this though if she would emphasize a desire to hire a HEAD coach with proven success. It's all about avoiding the scam that is "Head Coaching search firms", a corrupt cottage industry that rigs the process like a cartel would, by giving the school nothing but unqualified candidates that are paying the same search firms to find them jobs. Hence why so many D1 assistant coaches that can afford to use them, despite having zero HC experience, so often get high paying first jobs (like ours), with lengthy contracts, without any proven winning HC's ever being considered.

Fran,
I also thought about her possible consideration along the lines of jettisoning Baldwin to help protect her position due to financial pressures of two buyouts. If we both thought of this I would be very surprised if she did not or actually do this significantly for that reason beyond the obvious. horrible coach.
