We need a new coach who knows how to work the portal and can recruit, especially internationally. Sorry to say it but the upper midwest is not a hot bed for basketball talent. The new staff needs to be savvy with the portal but it’s not like they’re fighting for the higher end talent in the region to begin with. If they landed the 4th best player in the state, that’s still a very talented player, especially for this league. |

I'm glad they fired him so that we wouldnt have to endure another 10-22 (or worse) season next year . I simply cant imagine the next guy being worse. Sure, its possible, just exceedingly unlikely. Be careful here, Nick. Next year will almost certainly be as bad or worse. It's a BIG job. This will surely take time. |

Remember what the "standard" is here, according to our AD. Top two in the league and regular NCAA bids. Even in this horrid league, does anyone here actually think that we are within even three years of a bid?
All that's happening here is AB is buying herself more time because she can blame the coming years of failure or mediocrity (and definitely of not meeting those standards) on the need for the new coach to build the program up -- and definitely not on her overseeing the demolition of the program necessitating ANOTHER rebuild. It's an ingenious strategy for a peter principle administrator.

This may come as a shocker to many on this board, but I think, with the right coach, we can start winning right away. With a mix of holdovers (hopefully Melo Newby sticks around) and some Juco transfers, the right coach should be able to win in the pathetic, downtrodden Horizon right off the bat. Maybe not win the conference, but having a winning record next year isn’t impossible to imagine.
3 years from now, I would hope we are competing for a league title again. If not, then AB did completely botch the hire again.
Unlike many on this board, I hope we stay in the Horizon long term. It’s ripe for the right coach to come in and dominate. See Dennis Gates at Cleveland St. It didn’t take him long to start making NCAA appearances given the mediocrity of the conference.

See Dennis Gates at Cleveland St. It didn’t take him long to start making NCAA appearances given the mediocrity of the conference. NCAA "appearances??" He's only made one so far, Bupp. He hasn't won the HLT yet this year, and he has the dreaded Hot 10 seed to get through tonight. They've lost some of their momentum the past couple weeks. We'll see. |

Yes we need to be the 67th team in. Horizon is a dying conference need to get out ASAP.
