Panthers Part Ways With Pat Baldwin
Pat Baldwin has been relieved of his duties and will not return as the head coach of the Milwaukee men’s basketball team, Director of Athletics Amanda Braun announced today.

“On behalf of our entire program and the UWM community, we thank Coach Baldwin for his tireless work and for his time as the head coach of our program,” Braun said. “We appreciate Pat’s genuine commitment to our student-athletes, whether that was on the court, in the classroom, or as a mentor to young adults. We certainly wish him and his family all the best moving forward.”

Baldwin posted an overall record of 57-92 in his five seasons, going 34-59 in Horizon League play.

Baldwin posted 16 victories and a fifth-place finish his first year, but has finished no higher than eighth in each of the past four seasons. This winter, the team was selected to place fourth in the Horizon League preseason poll, but struggled down the stretch, losing 10 of its final 13 games in placing ninth.

"We are committed to building a winning program and honoring the tradition and success of Panther Basketball. We will recruit candidates with high character, who are proven winners," Braun said.

A national search will begin immediately for Milwaukee's next head men's basketball coach.

I thought we might see this news today. I hold no Ill will towards PBS. I bet he did his level best, and that wasn’t good enough. We can only hope this is the last time we hire an assistant without HC experience, and hope they can learn on the fly. This is on AB for making a poor hiring decision more so than on PBS for not doing well IMO.

Good luck in his future endeavors. Those endeavors won’t include being a HC ever again at the D1 level, I can almost guarantee that.

And for the love of god, please hire Lamont Paris , or someone with some GD experience!

Note that I titled this post with the word "firingS." PLURAL. If the University stops with Baldwin we have gotten NOWHERE.

With the reasons given for firing Rob Jeter, how is it that even offering a contract extension to a coach that went 37-58 in his first three years isn't a fireable offense?

How is it that that extension was still on the table a mediocre year later, and that wasn't a fireable offense?

And now, we owe said coach another year's worth of money, after a 57-92 overall record, chose to fire him before he gets to coach one second of that extension, and that is not a fireable offense?
