Last post, sorry for the verbosity all, I'm just increasingly pissed off and the UWMFreak board IS my social network.
Consider this (I know we'll never be as big as UW but just consider this)- take away the men's hoops, hockey and football teams at UW (or put them at the level we are currently at).
Now imagine how many billboards you would (no longer) see around Madison and how much less Badger-related money and influence would be flowing through the Madison economy. "Badgercars", "Badger Insurance", "Buckys 5th Quarter", etc., etc. A majority of everything in Madison is Badgers themed or related in some way. Imagine how much less money UW would have to work with. Imagine their enrollment stagnating or dropping till it's rock bottom like us?
The point I am trying to make, is that having successful public-facing athletics is far, far more than "just a game". It instills culture and a positive impression. It drives enrollment. It makes the Uni money.
But, ya know, we've got a "Path to Prominence" and all so I guess we're covered. /s

"For our men's basketball program, our goal every year is to be a top 100 NCAA Division Iprogram. Specific to our conference, our goal is to win the Horizon League and our expectation is to finish among the top three in the Horizon League on an annual basis. These are very realistic goals and expectations because we financially support theprogram at the top of league. As you know, this year men's basketball did not achieve the competitive goals orexpectations for the program. The team will not be selected for the NCAA or NITtournaments and our option with a fifth‐place finish is to participate in events that arenot aspirational for our program. Because of this, it is difficult to justify participation inthe CBI and CIT events and the financial commitment required for them." -March 2016NARRATOR: There was no financial commitment to the CBI and CIT tournaments the Panthers were invited to. Former Milwaukee Hoops mega-donor David Nicholas offered to pay the $40,000 required. And Amanda Braun refused and told a bunch of young men that their season had to end prematurely. Completely out of spite. I just wanted to interject one thing, VP. David Nicholas wasn't merely a Milwaukee HOOPS mega-donor; he was a UWM mega-donor!

A quick UIC note: they are 12-10. An astonishing TEN of their victories are comprised of one win against a D2 team and NINE wins against teams ranked 300 or lower in kenpom! They will be trying to make that ten today.

We passed on the HL tournament game. I was done about a month ago but went to every regular season game. I paid enough for those, the program/HL doesnt deserve anymore than that. Sounds like the Arena's going to be EMPTY on Tuesday! I recall a tournament game about 10 years ago to the day against UIC when the Klotsche Center was PACKED and ROCKING!!! Does anyone else remember this?! I do remember. Also, the kiss of death. It was so cool, the Panthers thought it was a good idea to play all their games for a season.

We just have to overcome the PBS factor. It's (.8)P with P being points that would be scored under an average coach, 20% cancelled out by poor coaching. So hey a 40pt 2nd half would effort yield us 32 big ones! Aw darnit all. This season has not gone the way we thought it would. We are going to have an interesting team next year. Maybe as one poster surmised this is all due to chemistry problems and next year could possibly be (just a little?) better/different? Whatever in the heck torpedoed this season, I want to know what tonyt knew and when he knew it In all seriousness, looking back, it was only tonyt and a single handful of Panther fans who were not super-optimistic going into this season. And tonyt warned this board several times that things were not right in Kansas. Maybe a coincidence? I don't know.. I hope tonyt can fill us in on whatever he has kept silent about for so long. Whatever happens, I do appreciate the great play of seniors who are probably moving on like Dree and JT. We just didn't have the horses this season (or the jockey). Maybe we beat UIC, and win a 1st Rd HLT game! That counts for something, right?

This is the Milwaukee team I’ve grown to expect. Down 11 now. This game is essentially meaningless, as Tuesday’s game is the one that matters. Still disappointing.

I don't want to sound mean, but I 1st had my suspicions when after a long 2+ years of waiting for PBJ to decide, and finally getting his commitment, with a head of steam rolling into this '21-'22 season.... it is announced after (imo troubling) practice report buzz, that "Joey St. Pierre", graduate transfer walk-on from Parkside was our leading candidate for starting forward. i shoulda known right then and there. but I couldn't force myself to believe the dream was showing signs of collapse, even from the beginning.

I'm seeing a "1 Call That's All Ad" by Gruber!
Who says advertisers are (completely) gone? (probably ad space purchased around same time a lot of us purchased tickets)

Panthers had the lead down to 6, but a lot of sloppy play brought it back up to 13.
