Intriguing....would be a so called "out of the box hire"? Well, so was Ryan and Pearl while Jeter was a totally in the box hire. Defense first coach who also generates a dynamic offense....sound familiar??? Read an article where it said the two key things on his teams are a fantastic ball handling guard and a smallish three level center....opposite of Baldwin's team for sure. What do we have to lose? Oh yeah, we are not know as visionaries and also this hire may not be politically correct

Ben McCollum has to be the top option. I know Lamont is having a nice year, but he hasn't had a great tenure. He inherited a team that made the NCAA tournament the year before his arrival. He reminds me too much of Jeter. Chattanooga made the NCAA is 2016. In 2017, Matt McCall's final year, they fell to fourth in the SoCon, and lost their last five games including a first round game in the conference tournament. They started fives seniors that year, who played the vast majority of their minutes, and none of whom returned the following year, Paris's first. In other words, he had to do a complete program rebuild. He seems to have done a pretty good jo of it, considering his team is currently ranked 68th in kenpom, which is (checks notes) 246 places higher than our team. But here's what I don't understand: why would anyone think that the HEAD coach of the top team in the TWELFTH rated league in the country would have the slightest interest in coming to one of the worst jobs in the TWENTY-SIXTH rated conference in the country? Does not compute.
