Yeah BPU , I get a lot of where you’re coming from. I agree, an influx of talent doesn’t necessarily translate to results on the court. Coaching is a huge impact on success at this level. If we do get PBjr and still finish middle of the pack and don’t make the NCAA tournament, then I would likely join the chorus of people on here who are frustrated with the coaching.
In that sense, getting PBJ is a blessing and a curse for PBS. A generational talent like him should translate into success, but expectations would be very high.

I'll take a Final Four appearance and PBS getting a high-major job as a result

I see that we have some here at each other's throats. Let me unify everyone on the board if only for a while: Go, Ohio! Beat Toledo!!! Ah, the surefire sign of Spring! Ohio 87, Toledo 80

Vin Baker Jr., who at 6-9 is the tallest scholarship player on the roster, missed his second straight season after undergoing surgery for torn cartilage in his knee. Then there's the question of whether any or all of the senior trio of Thomas, Lucas and Allen will take advantage of the NCAA's offer to allow all players an extra season of eligibility because of the pandemic. "We’re having individual meetings with our guys and we’ll address that in those meetings," Baldwin said. "I would love to coach all of them again because they all were great, and it would be great to make a run because I think we have some talent in that senior group. "Amir, Te’Jon, they’ve been in school for five years and it’s a lot to ask of them. We’ll see what their mindset is. The one thing I’ll never put on any of those guys is pressure because this is their life. We just hope they had a great experience with their teammates and coaches and whatever decision they make, they’re happy with it."

I hope he's like that in private. From what i've heard from former players, he's a hard ass on the court, especially in practice, and does rub some guys the wrong way. But off the court, he's a genuinely awesome guy that will do anything for his players. So I don't think he's just blowing smoke here.

Just think if the Milwaukee Athletic Department was proactive and was the first to give Rick Pitino another chance............ We’re better than Iona right?

Iona was paying Tim Cluess 1.1 million a year. They're paying Pitino "slightly less" than that. (also...BP was already MORE than skeezy enough. Pitino? yikes)

"In the second half of our league season (so our season), we became a little bit MORE POROUS defensively."
Anyone else cringe every time PBS speaks? Oh well, I guess that it's at least an honest assessment. That having been said, it's really not a good reflection on where his program is after four years.

Iona has been to the tournament more times in the last 5 years than Milwaukee has in its entire existence with an at large bid in 2013 as well. No chance. Edit: Iona is also my favorite mid major after Milwaukee.

It's good to be grounded and have some perspective. Our D-1 record is 544-573; Iona's D-1 record is 1,044-819.

Where does this phony high and mighty morals test come from? It's amazing how some people on this board would completely erase the Pearl era because of these phony "standards." Bo Ryan was no choir boy. Neither was Steve Antrim. Jeter met those standards, you clowns wanted him run out of town on a rail, and you got your wish. So what does that leave? Ric Cobb and Baldwin. No thanks. I'll take the wins that come with "skeez" all day, every day, and never apologize for it.

Noted BIG fan of firing Jeter 🙄 Just an FYI, the rest of college basketball has coaches too. Plenty are very successful and not dirtbags. If we hired UW’s top assistant instead of Pearl, I think he would’ve figured things out. A little while later, that guy was taking a PAC 12 dumpster fire to the Elite Eight.
