Nice full crowd at Engelmann for men's game against Northwestern. Nice early goal to get them into the game too.

Wonderful game last night at Engelmann. Tough loss but well played game on both sides. The Panthers had chances and played much smarter in second half. They will enjoy success in league play. Boyd is a very good coach. Nice to see some of the men’s basketball team in attendance. Their coach ain’t too bad either.

Panthers had 3 goals they just missed, but it just seemed like they played scattered and disorganized at times. Marquette looked a lot crisper with their passing.

Rollins had a rough night, she was in place for every opportunity and biffed it on all of them.

The Women's team started their defense of their league championship(s) on the road at Wright State. Milwaukee won, 2-1.
I don't really know that much about soccer, so I have trouble forming any kind of impression about how the non-league season went. Miwaukee went 3-2-2, and gave up, I believe, significantly more goals than they have been accustomed to allowing. I assume this is in part because Coach Boyd chose to play a more challenging non-league schedule. The high points of that schedule were pretty good, especially a 1-0 win over a Big Ten team, Minnesota. But one of the draws was a 3-3 game with Denver, a match which the Panthers lead late.
Even allowing a goal to Wright State seems unusual, although Wright State was picked to finish in the top half of the standings. I suppose that if the Panthers keep winning and make it further in the NCAA tournament than they have usually done, a less dominating performance in non-league play will not matter so much.

Milwaukee beats Detroit Mercy, 2-0, to go to 2-0 in league play. Kayla Rollins scored both goals, one in each half, and Kendall Edwards shut the Titans out.
Rollins has six goals in her last six matches, and leads the Panthers and the Horizon League in scoring with three goals in the first two league matches.
The win and Youngstown State's win over Northern Kentucky today means the Panthers are currently alone in first place. The Panthers play one match in the next week, at against Robert Morris and the Colonials' potent offense (RMU put up five goals on Green Bay today at home. The match will be Thursday night.

The final Milwaukee Cup game of the season is TOMORROW when men's soccer hosts Marquette at 7 pm!
Women's soccer is on Thursday at 7 pm against Robert Morris, the highest scoring team in the league right now.
Tickets are $5, and men's basketball season ticket members get in FREE to all fall sporting events. These are two games you'll want to make it out for.

I'm trying to get one of the local drone photographers to come out for the game. Engelmann needs some pretty pictures.

I could put this on any of several threads on here, but I am watching the soccer match now, so....
I am highly amused by one of the Horizon League blurbs they require to be included on (apparently) all broadcasts. The one I refer to is the one claiming that HL athletes play in "America's largest cities..." A few years ago the league had two teams in the Chicago area; now there are none. The league and its predecessors never had member institutions in either New York City or Los Angeles, so by what definition of "largest" does the League make this claim?
