Or...maybe he just wanted to play for his dad in the one year he'll spend in the college ranks and enjoy that time before becoming a millionaire?? Make no mistake about the reality of this situation, PBJ made the decision to play for PBS. He didnt choose UWM over Duke. He chose his dad over Duke. Please dont make this a non sequitur. Lol thanks for controlling the narrative. Let a lowly program enjoy the moment. The fact Dukies care about what Milwaukee fans even think is sad.

No seriously, I love this decision for PBJ, both from a familial perspective and a business perspective. I honestly could not be happier for him, for the Baldwin family, and for the UWM program and fanbase. As I stated earlier, I think PBJ staying home means more to the UWM program than it would have had he come to Duke and for the Duke program. I'm happy for the UWM fanbase and hope he fills the arena every night. And God knows conversing with you guys is so much more enjoyable than attempting to converse with the other program 8 miles down the road.

Not quite a big get, a massive get. I cannot underestimate what a huge moment this is for our university, but also for the city of Milwaukee and the sport. This is the highest-rated recruit in state history and the first top-four player to choose a mid-major out of college. The Ja Morants, Wades, Steph's, and Obi Toppin's of the world were either not recruited or blossomed during their college careers. Realize that the pandemic pushed a lot of precedent into the game of college basketball. A lot of the top mid-major kids that had stellar years or took a tourney team deep have the option to now bump up to a high-major in the hopes of further cementing their NBA draft stock. The landscape is shifting and I think we'll look back at this day as a milestone for players that can choose to stay close to home or play for a mid-major program instead of going to Duke. Granted, his dad coaching is definitely unique, but I think this is a landmark moment we'll look back at in the future. Most players go to play for the coach not the school. Also, here in Milwaukee, Shake Smart had 3 Texas commits, commit to Marquette. One of them was a local kid. So, for this one player in PBJ, he did pick UWM over Duke.

Those of you that can't see the truth in bshrader's posts have your homer flags blowing in your face.
If PBS isn't coach here, we get blown off as a potential landing spot for PBJ quicker than many of us got blown off at the bars on North Ave on Friday nights.
And there's nothing wrong with that. College is supposed to be the best years of our lives, PBJ will likely make that a single year, and he gets to spend it with his father. I give him immense credit for making that choice.
It's a great day for the men's hoops program and the university. I'm excited to see what the next year brings.
But I assure you, the selection was not made with regards to scholastics, facilities or the conference in which he'd be playing if he chose Milwaukee over Duke. It was made solely because his father would be his coach here. If his father was coaching elsewhere, we wouldn't be celebrating today.

So, for this one player in PBJ, he did pick UWM over Duke. I think you were on to making my point, then veered in another direction and the conclusion doesnt follow lol. I, too, would tend to agree that players commit to a coach rather than a particular school, or at least if there were a prioritization list, the coach would be at the top. Shaka had 3 ex-Texas commits who followed HIM to Marquette. They didnt commit to Marquette, IMO, they committed to Shaka. Just as PBJ committed to his father today. As TBone mentioned in a previous response, if PBS isnt the HC at Milwaukee, PBJ is heading elsewhere. I am ecstatic that PBJ has the opportunity to play his one year of college for his father. I think, as a father and a son myself, that would be the absolute dream opportunity. PBJ is a locked in lottery pick, regardless of where he plays. But make no mistake, PBJ chose his father over Duke (or G'Town or any other blue blood that recruited him). Not UWM over the aforementioned.

My friend, a fellow season ticket-holder, poses this question: does PBJ take up a scholarship? (I really wish that I had thought of this today!)
