I wonder if he just has weird coach speak. Meaning, doesn't want to call out his player for missing a shot. The last thing this program needs is a head coach who speaks in a weird manner. I doubt his comment today makes any difference to most others, but the program needs someone going forward that can say the right things to potential ticket buyers and supporters. Hopefully he will get better with this.

"We didn't get the stops we needed to on the defensive end," head coach Pat Baldwin said. "We made some crucial mistakes on the defensive side. It wasn't about the offense; I thought we got some really good looks. This is one that we wish we could have some moments back."

"Now you turn a chapter and it's tournament time," Baldwin said. "I told our group – and I told them from day one when I first met with them – I told them the team that is the most connected will be the team that wins the tournament. You can have the best players, but if you are not connected, you are not going to win. That's the message that I gave to our guys: let's regroup, re-energize, reconnect and everyone throw themselves into the games so that we give ourselves a chance to cut down the nets."

'Holic, on the radio broadcast it sounded as if he taunted us on turnovers. Can you confirm? If so, that is bush league. It seemed like his job was to psyche up the crowd and student section when applicable. He also had to let you know when a FT was made in case you’re either blind or you’ve never seen a game in your life.

PB said on the radio post game show that the loss was because of the defense down the stretch. He said it was not because of the offense. Huh? They did not score a point in the final 3:57 until Nze's put back with three seconds left. Did PB actually expect to win leading by only five points, 68-63, in the last 3:57 without scoring? No wonder MKE has trouble closing out games! Did Bell score in 2nd half? Taking CWN out the last few minutes was a complete mistake.

We lose sight of things in loses. I thought Vance Johnson had a nice game. 10pts 6rebs 4/4 from the foul line.

Out of curiosity, how would he know? Has PB ever been associated with a conference tournament winner? Honest question.

What else is he going to say? "I've never been a part of a conference champ so do whatever since I have no idea what to expect."

Did Bell score in 2nd half? Update - he was 0-7 in the second half.

My point is PB or any Panther head coach needs to sell the program. From 1,800 miles away, I am limited to what I hear and read on electronic media. If his post game criticism focuses on just one aspect of the game rather than all aspects that warrant criticism, I am giving him the benefit of the doubt that he and his staff are actually aware of the other aspects. I assume the disconnect is a result of his communication style. It is that style of communication that sets off a red flag for me as far as relating to fans and media are concerned. I am probably quite spoiled here in Phoenix by GCU's coach Dan Majerle, who is a tremendous communicator with fans and the media. He is up there with Bruce Pearl in that respect. A post-game Major Goolsby's regular tells me PB does not go to the post game mingles like at least his three predecessors did. Have any of you had a chance to speak with PB or hear him in non-media venues? I would be interested in your observations.

I think that this is so important for our program. What else sets it apart? In order to have any kind of public persona here, you have to, you know, show up in public!!

PB came to Goolsby's only once. After the Loyola win. He stuck with his assistants and didn't really work the room at all.
