If the rolling up of the shorts at the elastic wasn't annoying enough now CWN is fixated on rolling up his shorts from the bottom? I digress...
Well that was frustrating.

They never win in front of a good crowd. Coach needs to figure out a better end of game strategy. The Bell pound it for 30 seconds will never work.

Biggest crowd of the season. 2,871. Great energy in the building. Fun student crowd, with Greek Night going on.
18 offence rebounds that lead to 22 second chance points for IUPUI was a killer! To my surprise, both teams in 45 minutes had 10 turnovers each.
Coach Baldwin needs to coach better in these end of game plays. The final shot at NKY and tonight can't be Bell dribbling around, don't pass and put up a step back shot. Then, in overtime down 3, with 30 seconds left, go get the easy 2. IUPUI was 50% from the foul line. Extend the game!! Another step back three, that was an air ball by Bell.
Last, pretty cool having Gene Steratore ref'ing the game.

was at the game. IUPUI led for 99% of it. had a chance to win at the gun in regulation, but forced a bad shot. Drive to the basket, get contact, get to the line. we claw back to take the lead with a minute left in OT (our first since it was 6-5 2:30 into the game) then prompt give up a dagger 3. this loss hurts.

"This loss hurts."
Well, it certainly means that we'll finish under .500 for the second straight season.

"IUPUI did a great job of attacking us on the offensive glass and taking control of the game from that standpoint," Baldwin said. "They initiated all of the effort plays, all of the intensity and all of the toughness that we couldn't match."

As I posted during the game thread, effort and intensity were lacking for much of the game ... on Senior Night in front of a crowd of over 1,800!!! (Why didn't Alex Prahl see the court, by the way?) As a result, we suffered a sweep at the hands of the 314th ranked team in the country and our fifth loss THIS SEASON to an RPI 300-plus team (and that doesn't even count our loss to CSP)!!!! With the players we have, this shouldn't be happening!!!

I agree the Panthers' effort and intensity seemed to be lacking against IUPUI last night.
From my limited viewpoint on the stream, I did not see any fire or passion from the Panthers. The players did not seem to be having much fun. Is it possible the coaches and/or players tense up for a big game because of a relatively large crowd? If so, how could this be, given the team's success in the HL tournament last year? Could the team use a fiery personality like Matt Tiby's? Although his passion was sometimes detrimental, maybe so.
In contrast, watch last night's NKU vs WSU game if you have not already. Players on both sides seemed to be enjoying themselves - celebrating in-game successes, within reason, and seemingly doing whatever it took to try to pull out the game.
Again, my view was limited to what was shown on my TV screen. Maybe more fire and passion, and less tension, was evident in person.
Alternatively, considering the CSP loss was also at home on a Friday - do Panther players eat too much fried fish and potato pancakes in Friday pre-game meals? Maybe so, especially those whose box score stats from last night were not very impressive.

I enjoyed having had the analyst, Carl (sp?), on the radio broadcast/ESPN3 stream. He worked quite well with Scott Warras and sounded very comfortable behind the mike. My only constructive comment is to refer to the Panthers as a third party rather than "us" and "we."
Does anyone know who "Carl" is? Kudos to him for volunteering to do this. I would like to have him do more.

G-o-d — I heard an estimate that of that crowd, actual ticket buying fans probably numbered around 400.
Of course the ludicrous reported attendance was over 2800! Clearly they don’t even care any longer that they are Insulting our intelligence (not to mention our eyesight). It’s all about creating the illusion that the program’s fan interest since the purge hasn’t cratered.
Two years ago we had a basketball program. Now we have a Potemkin Village.

Only was able to watch the overtime...
Any talk of lack of effort and/or intensity is a scary thought for any team.

In answer to your question, Cactus, I thought that effort, intensity and interest were lacking until the last eight or so minutes of regulation. Maybe Baldwin's heavy-handed ways are wearing on the players. Hard to say for certain.

Can you explain what you mean by heavy-handed ways mean?
