Very fortunate to pull back 4 points to take it from a 16 point deficit to just 12 at the end. And UIC had multiple good 3 point opportunities that they missed. The interior defense was miserable all half.
While I’ll be surprised if we don’t make this a game in the second half, the lackluster first half has put us in a bad hole. Conference season is hanging by a thread here. One more loss on this road swing is going to leave us very far behind WSU and NKU and essentially playing for third place only a few weeks into the season.

We've gone from the best TV production in the HL at IUPUI to the worst. What's with the closeup camera shots of FT shooters from behind the baseline that do not show the hoop? This has been an issue at UIC dating back to the early HLN days.

This is the UIC that many were expecting going into the season.

What does it say about us that we are allowing them to play that way? Their BEST win this year is against the 279th rated team in the country. Two weeks ago NKU beat them by 35 points!

Seems like UIC is figuring some things out recently. Won 3 in a row and played close at Wright St. The talent is definitely there.

Hey, has anyone watching the game heard that NBA Saturday Prime Time begins January 20th? Just thought I would let you know in case you did not hear it yet.😀

Nice to see the guys refusing to give up. They've played with a lot more passion this half, even if it doesn't show on the scoreboard.

Games like this I wish we had good young talent biding time on the bench so PB could put them on the floor. He has CWP for that, but no one else. This certainly is a function of two coaching changes in two years. We just have to be patient for a while.

Teams evolve through the season, some get better and some worse. For example, out here in the desert ASU rolled through non-conference to a 12-0 record and a #2 ranking. Since then they are 1-3 in the PAC 12 with the win coming against so-so Utah in OT. The good thing for us is we have the opportunity to evolve for the better going forward through the season, hopefully peaking at tournament time, like last year. New coach, mostly the same players, so we'll see.

Well, was going to go to GB on Monday since I have off work...but now, I think I will stay home. Sad performances lately.

Seems like UIC is figuring some things out recently. Won 3 in a row and played close at Wright St. The talent is definitely there. Actually 2 things are mainly responsible for our turnaround: Dixson slowly returning to his old self after the ACL injury last year. And, maybe more importantly, Ferguson returning after being off 9 games with a stress fracture in his foot. He's the facilitator that makes our offense go, our huge assist guy.

Well, was going to go to GB on Monday since I have off work...but now, I think I will stay home. Sad performances lately. This is exactly the type of attitude we as fans had in the '13-'14 season just before MKE went on to win the HL tourney. Again, I will remind us of how we felt with this thread uwmfreak.proboards.com/thread/6593/game-29-uic I thought about not going to GB that season during the HL tournament thinking they did not have much of a chance but am glad I did. There are several other examples of peaks and valleys from past seasons. Are you a band wagon jumper? A true fan is a fan through the highs and lows. If we stay low for a while, the highs will be that much better later on. Take it from someone that has closely followed the program since the Antrum era and sports in general since the late 60s.

I enjoyed PB's comments on the radio after the game. He was critical of the team's effort and execution. He explained the players he had on the floor down the stretch were the ones that played with the most heart and toughness. This was a clear implication that those not playing late did not display those qualities.
I like this better than much of what we heard last year from LJ, in which he often expressed pride at the way the players played, and would leave it at that. Dont get me wrong, I love LJ as a coach and he is further proving his worth at BU, but I like a coach who is not so PC.
