This should be a blowout. Better be a blowout, or fear losing student support al la Parkside years ago. Expect a big travel fan base since all but 2 players are from Wisconsin and 14 players within a hour drive. Tallest players listed at 6'6". www.wlcsports.com/sports/mbkb/2016-17/roster

"I thought our tempo didn't pick up until the latter part of the first half and into the second half and we stretched it out from there," head coach Pat Baldwin said. "So I am encouraged by how we are moving and getting up and down the floor and scoring with the opportunities that we are given, but I think the flow can be a lot better."
"We have to shore up our defense"
Ugly part for myself, was the Panthers shot 7-27 from 3, 25.9% while shooting 50% for the game.
"Obviously we scored 92 and they had 64, but the biggest thing was our energy wasn't there this evening. That's troubling to me, because that's all we talk about — the passion that we have for this game.
"It could possibly be jitters. It's a brand-new season and the fans are out for the first time. I would think that you would be out there flying all over the place. I'm going to give that a pass from that standpoint.
"But we've got to get better." said, Baldwin.

We outmatched them all over the floor, as we should have.
My takeaways.
Carson Warren-Newsome (CWN to save twitter space if you follow) is going to be good. Quick hands, good looking shot, and speed. However, he is a Freshman and twice in back to back breakaways it showed. But decision making will come.
I liked the starting 5. Barnes, Brock, JJ, Nze and Prahl. I like August, but I like Barnes better in the starting role.
When Vance is on the floor, I like the ball movement between him and Nze and Prahl, it nice to see solid play down on the block.
We still need a shooter, guys are going to be open to take the 3, but we didnt knock them down, I dont want to have live and die by the 3 again, which the offence doesnt lead us to have to be that way, but an open shot is an open shot.
The defense, albiet not the press many saw in the Pearl years, a bit of pressure on the ball handler and the inbound was nice to see, we did break down a few times late in the shot clock however. To defend for 27 sec and get beat with 3 left is always a killer.
Otherwise enjoyable game.

CWN didn't get into the game under the final 3 minutes of the 1st half last night and only played 9 minutes. He seemed a bit wild. Were he got into the game right away versus Marquette and seemed in control as a freshmen.

Or, of course, it could of just been the inconsistency of a true freshman in his first 2 collegiate games. Hopefully the bigs continue their strong play throughout the season. Really like what I'm seeing from them so far, even if they were just exhibition games.
