Fran's mother was moved into hospice care earlier today and I just wanted to put out a public prayer. Despite some differences of opinion through the years (and plenty of agreement, too), he's been a very good friend to me and I know that he cares deeply about our program. He and his wife and sons are in my thoughts today!

I understand some people are angry. Other people are looking to settle scores or out-"ItoldYaSo" one another.
But things like this bring perspective.
On a sort of related note, I'm just glad people are still talking about UWM and Milwaukee Hoops. The mountain we hope for, wish for, or despair at failing to even see is quite the journey. But we can get there. It wasn't long ago that if I told you Northwestern is pre-season ranked #18- you'd tell me to have my head examined.
On a directly related note- prayers sent. God bless and press on.

My mother died in hospice care some years ago. It was about the best death I have witnessed. She got to attend her own wake. She died at peace, surrounded by her children. Perhaps the hardest thing I have had to go through in life, but also one of the most rewarding. Prayers for Fran and family. You may be a pain in the ass, but God still loves you.

I appreciate all the kind remarks notwithstanding my occasionally irritating observations.

Fran's mom passed away last night while surrounded by her family. It was All Souls Day, the same day on which my father died five years ago. May she rest in peace.

Appropriate and I hope this will bring comfort to Fran and his family. My mother died on Christmas. The recessional hymn for her funeral was Silent Night. Although there is a touch of sadness for me in Christmas since, it was a beautiful way to end her life. May Fran and family find peace in remembering their loved one on the day in which we remember our loved ones.

Condolences and hugs to Fran and his family. Losing a loved one is always difficult, losing a mother is 1000x more difficult.
As I write this, there are tears rolling down my cheeks reading about everyone else losing their loved ones, and it reminds me of my father, gone from this earth almost eight years. Some of my favorite memories are of my father and I cheering on our Panthers as they won the Horizon League tournament at the Cell....
