If Jeter was going to come in, many thought it would have been last year. I hear Jeter and his family really like UNLV.

I hope he stays in Vegas. A) This would be a downward, not even lateral move, for someone who should have legitimate high-level head coaching aspirations, B) Vegas is cooler than Madison and not by a little

I think that he needs to stay where he is, especially with one of the top point guards in the country in the fold for next season.

Meaning he is the top assistant at UNLV. Badgers currently don't have an associate head coach. If Jeter is offered that title, there's zero reason to think UNLV would still be better.

Meaning he is the top assistant at UNLV. Is he though? Doesn't have the Associate HC title & isn't listed first among the assistants (who aren't sorted in alphabetical order). The guy listed above him left the Associate HC job at Providence in a year where they were a tournament team w/ a NPOY candidate to come to UNLV. I can't find a picture of their bench, but what I can find points to Jeter being 2nd assistant there. Also, I haven't read anything about Moore being named Associate Head coach. is there any evidence it wouldn't be Jeter if he returned to Madison?

I have no idea if UW wants Coach Jeter or he wants UW, but there are numerous examples of successful high major programs that have hired experienced head coaches as assistants. I know that Gard and Jeter have a good relationship and I don't think there would be any friction between them about Rob now working as an assistant to Greg. Rob is a very good teacher of the game and could be a formidable recruiter for an elite program like Wisconsin with his ties and connections in the midwest and beyond. Basically the only people connected in any way to college basketball who don't like and respect him are confined to a few offices in the Pavilion.
Speaking of which -- and I'm quite serious -- I wonder if Rob has any interest in moving into athletics administration. He would be an outstanding replacement for the excuse for an AD that we are suffering under now. A combination of Rob Jeter as AD and Lavell Jordan as MBB HC would be pretty awesome. I'm pretty sure there's not another basketball coach in the country who has seen first hand more incompetence by more people in athletics administration and knows how it can hurt a basketball program; and conversely, would know how to support a basketball program in that role.

I don't agree with a lot of the dramatic takes regarding our former coach, but this is a really interesting idea.

I don't agree with a lot of the dramatic takes regarding our former coach, but this is a really interesting idea. Jeter would be the guy to get Nicholas and the others back. Jeter is well-liked by our fans off the court. I know a couple who don't like him, but Fran's onto something. I should bring up that Jeter-as-AD is something Chad Knodl has pitched to some of us many times. He knows how Bud succeeded in hiring. He knows how Bud's hands-off approach helped coaches do their jobs; not interfering all the time, letting them thrive in the right situation. Which brings us back to Fran's point that no one could walk into that office and know exactly how to traverse the landscape like Jeter. They wouldn't have to beg Joah to show up for the alumni game - everyone would be there. Honestly, I love this idea. One of the guys I talked to who was highest on LaVall Jordan? Rob Jeter. He'd have Val's back, and he'd know exactly what to push for with the university because it's all stuff that got in his way. This is a great idea. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using proboards

Happy to hear he'll be around for Jordan Johnson's senior year...hopefully the Rebels can get something going. Side note: Dean Oliver the writer and Dean Oliver the former Iowa player need to stop confusing me.
