It appears that the practice facility is back up for review. Does anyone know if the major donation will help push this through? I'm hoping this can get past but I have no additional information.

We can only hope. This would be a huge step forward. I am not optimistic though with the "current administration". Not exactly "forward Wisconsin" as it relates to maintaining our key public universities. Combine an almost personal grudge against Wisconsin public universities from our head guy in Madison, with a mantra of no new taxes or fees whatever thew downside, well...how about a bait and switch? We call if a road building fund or grant to industrial agriculture for a large pig farm and it might go through...

I'm slightly more optimistic because a) we're not asking for as much as last time and b) we actually have cash on hand to contribute immediately. With that said, Walker plans on moving up the political ladder which means he'll probably reject it since it'll be considered a "pork barrel project" and he's clearly concerned about his image outside the state.
With that said, the facility will happen eventually. The only unknown is "when".

I hope so. The thing is UWM can not even get table scraps. Reference the following: <Walker cuts funds out of Freshwater Science Building so can not adequately furnish. This is a unique jewel with tremendous potential for the future. <The student density on the East Side is ridiculous. UWM so underfunded for facilities. We acquire Columbia which can also be utilized to train potential nurses (sounds like a job creator to me). Yet no funding to furnish it. <Lastly, check out the recent article in the Journal Sentinal. Chemistry Building can not even utilize properly the modest lab it has due to lack of ventilation. Seriously? We are a top research university which is amazing considering how we get you know what... One Trick Pony in Madison wants to say did not raise a single tax or fee. I do not like taxes either but holy cow, fair is fair. So, money for a practice facility? Doubt it...likely will have to come from private sources or segregated fee totally

It sucks that our entire University as while as the whole UW system(Minus Madison of course) suffers due to Walker's political agenda.
