Beginning with the 8-9 and 7-10 games on Friday, March 3. The winners of those contests will play the Nos. 1 and 2 seeds in the second round, with the victors advancing to Monday’s semifinals. Sunday’s third round contests will see the 4-5 and 3-6 seeds play for a berth in the semifinals. Semifinal winners will meet on Tuesday, March 7, for the Horizon League title and automatic bid.

Sunday will still be the 2nd round but it does protect the 1 and 2 seeds in the sense that they will play games against teams that played the night before.

Now, the 1 & 2 seeds must win 3 games. Weird, that the 2nd round is Saturday and Sunday.

Gives the 1 & 2 seeds (assuming they prevail in the Friday game) an extra day of rest before the semifinal.

I don't think this was posted anywhere after the tournament but LeCrone acknowledged there's an opt-out after the third year.

For those of us who hope they'll be smart and go back to the way things were (*raising hand*), it looks like we're screwed.

If Detroit isn't viable beyond 2018, watch for Indianapolis to jump into the fray, especially now that the league has added IUPUI as its 10th conference member, replacing Valparaiso. Indianapolis also is home to the Horizon League offices, and is no stranger to hosting college tournaments. The Big Ten has been a fixture there for years.

Call me crazy but I doubt Detroit's "lack of history hosting college tournaments" is any real issue.
