Column from Thursday's JS about how UWM and MU won't play next season but it looks like they'll start up again the following season: www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=539540Some speculation in there that the men's controversy played a role in this but I don't know what the real reason is.

This column is really comparing apples and oranges. Sandy is part of the old guard (11th season) who believes that her program can't compete for the same players as MU. Not saying that Milwaukee can land the same top-level recruit as Marquette (Dominic James, Jerel McNeal) yet, but the Panthers are clearly going after many of the same players (Tim Flowers, Deonte Roberts and the like). In addition, like the baseball team, the women's program can land plenty of local talent and be competitive in the league. I don't think that's true of the men's team.

Correct Dylan. The men would not be competitive in the HL just going after local talent.
