A very unusual situation so while I know this was quite extreme in this case I am with Bill on all of this. Sad it got to this point but it was not really any of his making and I can understand the years and years of frustration because he cares so much. I have a hard time imagining Milwaukee basketball without Bill calling the play by play. He added fun and personality to the broadcasts and lord knows UWM needs a lot more of that. In addition, I know personally what a nice, kind and genuine person he is so best of luck, Bill, never forget you and it was a great ride. You made it fun.
Now, some comments overall. I disagree with UWM fans being thrilled with the extensions. Quite the contrary, I know a couple of the larger boosters including a couple in the "gang of four" who were not thrilled with the hire from the start but publicly supported and I gave them credit for that. Conversely, it is sad because we had a chance (almost a once in a lifetime opportunity) to take it to the next level after Pearl and I feel we blew it hiring Rob, The formula was a D-2 or D -3 Head Coach who showed they could coach like madmen and had a track record. If they were off the charts successful and left UWM, so be it... better than playing it safe, hiring someone because he happened to work in someone's else's regime but had not real ability as a Head Coach and Head Marketer of the program. Rob is a great guy and will make a great head assistant somewhere again but as head of a program, lackluster...a stiff. No personality...what happened is coach leaves anyway because mediocre .. would rather replace a coach because he was super successful and left...not because we fiddled around and finally pulled the plug which should have been done long ago. All this stuff about Peal leaving the cupboard bare. Well, Rob milked that for a year, claimed credit, almost left after one year himself (wish he had) and then his recruiting was God awful for years, ie, Harris, Flowers, T Johnson, K Johnson, Boga brothers, McCallum and we criticize Pearl for marginal recruiting....an average 5th place finish over his year tenure in the HL?? A fifty place 10-8 record this year in a very watered down league. I think Amanda Braun is a disaster and so typical of UWM top- leadership. Bill is right. A lot of bureucrats who are more concerned with political correctness and do not back up their commitment. Frankly, either for for it or go to D -III. Why they did not hire Plinske twice is beyond me. That whol athletic board and alumni assn. leaders have all been there too long as well as that airhead, our athletic liasions who while no relation shares my last name. I am really re-assessing everything, Right now I am at the point of just finally walking away for good. I feel sorry for Jordan. There is a systemic failure here.
